Didn't see anyone post here, so posting to open a discussion since the application cycle is coming up soon! Any one else applying for Summer of 2024?
Congratulations everyone!
Just a quick advise and question. What are your stats please? And did you do anything to improve them?
I was waistlisted but here go my stats, 3.9 nursing GPA, overall 3.4, gre 330, I got a 109 on the ccrn. I took organic chemistry and got a B. I know I have some few C's, statistics, Chem 2 and general Microbiology it was a bad semester. but I took medical Microbiology and a B.
I thought having a high gre score will help, I'm in the process of retaking statistics, taking advanced patho and the ANE class.
Any advise will help on how to better improve application... thank you?

Did you get an interview and then put on the waitlist?

A high GRE isn't going to overcome your science scores. It is actually the opposite, anesthesia is science based so making A's will overcome a bad GRE (I got in with a 296 GRE but made all A's in my sciences). They acknowledged my science grades and said they saw that I could manage work and still make A's so that stood out in lieu of my lower GPA

Then if you got an interview, it was the way you interviewed. Have you asked for feedback?
I agree. I don't have the most amazing stats, but I have almost 7 years of nursing and 4 of EMT. My GRE wasn't great, my overall GPA was a 3.31 (not even the cut off for the overall on the website), and my last 60 were 3.53. My science was 3.6 I believe. I retook organic chemistry and stats. I have my PALS, ACLS & BLS and CCRN. Needless to say I was shocked when I was invited for an interview.
During my interview they asked about my previous grades (I wasn't the best student in my younger years) and I admitted that and what I've done to change and overcome my previous struggles. I am in no way the ideal candidate, but I'd like to believe that they saw my application as a whole and gave me a chance, to my surprise, I was accepted. I was myself and I interview with honesty and enthusiasm. Before this application I have applied a total of 5 times (different schools) waitlisted twice and rejected 3 times.
don't give up. You have a solid profile, but work on your interview. Be yourself and make them smile and they'll see that you're an awesome fit for the program. Best of luck to you!

What personality questions did you get if you don't mind me asking ?
