Barry CRNA Starting 2018

Nursing Students SRNA

Published

Hello all! I just thought I would start a thread for those of us applying. I have started my application and I am working on my personal statement now. How are you all doing?

I have taken the GRE and passed my CCRN. I still need to get my PALS. I also need to ask for my letters of recommendation and send in my school transcripts & GRE scores. I'm going to try to apply for the Tampa campus.

Hi everyone! Congrats to those who have been accepted and those interviewing! I submitted my app in the beginning of February. Just got word last week that my file was complete after multiple emails about missing materials(that had already been submitted). I'm really nervous and hoping to hear soon either way

Hello all. I wanted to post that I got the confirmation email today for the interview on March 31st

I guess I'll jump in here. All my application documents were completed this past week. Hoping for an interview late this month since I'm interviewing for LMU on the 17th. GRE 305, 14yrs medic (8 flight team), 4 years RN, (2-years ER, 2yrs- ICU and flight team). 3.4 overall GPA, 3.95 GPA for RN-BSN, CCRN/CFRN/CEN/FP-C, 80+ hours CRNA/OR job shadow time, 150+ intubations.

Should it come down to it, I would be interested in any information on the different sites/regions. My family would be with me, two young kids.

For those of you asking about stats etc.....stop worrying about it. Asking everyone else for their stats/experience is only going to give you more anxiety. Frankly, it doesn't matter. In our class we have people with all types of experience. Some have been a nurse only a year, some with just ER, some with all sorts of crazy experience. There is no rhyme or reason and I'm sure it is incredibly difficult for them to choose. When it comes down to it, your experience matters very little. You aren't here to be a better ICU nurse, you're here for anesthesia, very very different.

Be patient.

You can be accepted with provisions, aka improving your GRE, taking a chem, etc.

As far as areas, from my understanding Tampa and SF will be about the busiest. If you have a family, look more into Tampa, west palm, orlando. Northern FL in my opinion isn't as crazy culture wise as SF. West palm area is a little more expensive but very nice.

Interviews are very laid back, it's basically an information session with a small test that evaluates your chem skills. Your performance on the test is not considered in the interview. The interview session is usually you and two faculty members, or it could be a senior student or even a clinical coordinator. Mine was the director and a student, very laid back.

Throwaway 15, I think most of us neurotic enough to post here realize this, it's the nerves. I'm sure we have all rearranged our professional lives to accomplish becoming accepted, and here we are on the cusp of realizing our goals. This site is more for comfort in groups knowing we share the same nerve wrenching feeling waiting for a call more than anything. If there were specific time frames than it wouldn't be as bad, but the anticipation is killer.

Thank you throwaway 15! Your post gives hope to those who realize they are not "prime choice". I for once meet all the requirements but at a minimum, except for a CCRN certificate. So the information you shared is encouraging.

If you've applied already and want a greater chance of acceptance, then I would highly suggest signing up for the CCRN and notifying the school that you plan on taking it. There were many that did have CCRN and those that didn't but it certainly will help you. If accepted it would allow you provisional acceptance most likely based on passing the exam which you would have until matriculation to do.

I actually have CCRN cert! yay! Thanks for the advice!

BTW, many of you will be hearing word about acceptance within the next 2 to 3 weeks. When you get the acceptance, I would strongly encourage you to make a Facebook group for the entire class. Everyone of us has connected through those means and it has made life so much easier.

Again, for those that get accepted early, TAKE THE HEADSTART COURSES. I don't care what you think you have going on that is more important....taking those courses will make your life infinitely easier when classes start in January. You can still travel, have a life etc while taking these head start courses, they aren't incredibly challenging, but taking them with all the others is.

Research starts Mid May-Aug. Chem and professional aspects Mid Aug-Dec.

Also, if you PM me after acceptance, I can hook someone (someone, as in someone who has already made a fbook group) up with all the eBooks, some notes, etc. I don't want 60 PMs lol.

Any other specific questions just ask here.

Good luck to all those interviewing today!

Thanks. What did yall think of the interview? I found everyone on the panel to be very nice but they definitely did ask some probing questions. Nothing too crazy, just wanted to really make sure prospective students feel prepared to take on this huge commitment in terms of time, finances, travel, etc. and that they have support at home. The written test was all over the place. Tried to prepare but pretty sure I bombed that.
