Banner Good Sam

Published

I have read some postings, and most of them good of Banner Good Sam, however, I am from Montana, and will have my 2nd interview this afternoon, and there is some apprehension. When talking to the recruiter he makes it sound like tons of nurses move to work here because of the "magnet" title. I did not realize until after the phone call that he works for a totally different company and works in Texas. Now, everything they are offering a new grad sounds almost too good to be true. They are unwilling to fly me down there first before I sign any contract, and I honestly cannot afford to fly just to look, I am a new graduate and of course broke! I am only working part-time under my LPN license for the time being. We own our house so if I did move I would move by myself. I guess I should get to my questions right? Okay, so are there any nurses here who have moved to work at Banner Good Sam, or any other hospital, and were you happy about your decision? Is the hospital what is claims to be? They said that I would be put on Cardiac Tele to start with, and then can take classes to cross train and hopefully move forward. I someday want to work in OR! Any thoughts would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

If I recall correctly, Banner has a small moving package (~$5000).

I have been here since January, I have worked with tons of nurses who have worked at Good Sam's. They have nothing nice to say, seriously, they may be magnet, but they are short staffed and it is like a conveyor belt, too many patients and not enough staff to care for them. This concerns me as your license is at stake. Banner Desert is the same way.

Yes I have to agree I heard much the same recently

I agree with the previous comments about Good Sam & Banner Desert -- as I have worked at both hosptials. I work at Chandler Regional Hosptial and really like it there plus they have great benefits. Best wishes on your search. On a side note, I was born in Miles City, MT many years ago and really love it down in AZ now.

Hey Silver,

We were working with a recruiter from texas and had interviews with a few hospitals, good sam being one. everything that the company told us was a lie. We signed a contract and when money was sent, all the lies started to come out. We luckly got out of the contract as my wifes aunt works at a big law firm and sent some offical paperwork to the recruiter and they were fumbling around and let us out of the contract. Just be very carefull before you sign anything. if you want pm me with recruiter that you are using might be one in the same.

I had a very bad experience in the icu. Some of the people in my ICU class started in tele either at Good Sam or at Desert (I think). There seems to be a high expectation and I cannot speak for tele, but I received no help in meeting that expectation in icu. Despite assuming care for two patients while my preceptor helped other people I was highly criticized for looking for help when a patient started to go bad and they refused all along to put me with someone who likes to teach.
