My wife is being recruited for an American International School in Bangladesh. To get her they will hire me as a school nurse. I have experience in ICU, ER, Psych, Education, Management, Rehab, Med/Surg, and Home Health. Anything I should know before my phone interview...never thought about doing school nursing before.

You could post on the school nurse listserv and ask for advice from some of the other International Nurses, but I am pretty sure that the members have not worked in Africa. mostly Asia. The link to subscribe is: http://listserv.buffalo.edu/user/sub.shtml I worked as a school nurse at a boarding school that had many teachers who had worked in American Schools abroad and it sounded like a great experience.
I do think that your background would fit well as long as you are interested in adapting to a new situation. ER and home health probably apply the most to school nursing as you need to assess quickly and make decisions on your own. Sounds like your background would be ideal for this. You would want to do some reading on the population focus of this position and the health promotion and prevention aspects of the job.
Your job is to keep the kids healthy so they can get the most out of the education the school is offering.

ROTFLMAO! I thought everyone knew Bangladesh was on the northwest coast of South America between Upper Volta and Rwanda. Of course, Zenman will need to learn Spanish.
In a more serious vein, as opposed to the basilic vein, I might suggest that anyone contemplating living in Bangladesh should check out the State Department and/or CIA websites for that particular country. Having lived overseas it is wise to investigate all aspects of living in a foreign country. Aside from Peace Corps folks (God Bless Them) it is sometimes quite expensive for Americans who try to continue their American lifestyle in a third world country.
Good luck to Zenman if he and his wife decide to give up living in Hawaii for a country that has experienced one disaster after another.

Bangladesh is between India and Myanmar for those of you not near a map.
Unfortunately it is usually involved in some type of civil war or hit by famine.
Please make sure that every type of vaccination that is possible you have had before you leave.........
As for school nursing, you will be dealing with students of expats for the most part, so they will usually have their medical care under control. Suprisingly, obesity is becoming a large problems there with school kids, so a healthy diet will need to be taught. The usualy lumps and bumps will be sent to you.........
When do you leave?
I can give you the names of some great places in Thailand to go to for vacation... :)
