Band 5 to Band 6 interview advice?

Published

Hi

Here's my problem. I've got a nursing interview (endoscopy) and have to give a presentation titled "demonstrate the vision of the transition from Band 5 to Band 6 staff nurse"?

Does the title even make sense????

I was going to compare job roles and job descriptions with personal challenges also.

Any tips and clarification would be appreciated.............cheers...........Tim.

Looking at the job descriptions is a good start, there are clear differences between and bank 5 and band 6 role and you need to be able to highlight them in your presentation. The statement "demonstrate the vision of transition" to me suggests they would be looking for you to tell them how you will develop into the role of a band 6 nurse,

Some suggestions would be,

  • demonstrating and developing clinical leadership skills
  • understanding of the bigger picture, so looking beyond your own area and workload and understand the pressures of your organisation and how that impacts on specific areas
  • and understanding of pressures and targets and how using good clinical leadership skills you can engage and motivate junior staff to take up the challenge of working in a modern and pressured service
  • Ideas about change management
  • thinking about what is important to your area, so particular targets, or performance indicators such as infection control, reducing clinical incidents, improving quality

It all sounds very managerial but this would be the type of thing I would be asking of my band 6's

Take a look at my blog as well, the link is in my signature, there is a section in there about interview tips for qualified UK nurses that may help

can anyone help with what i exactly need to know about change management for an interview for band 6?
