Baker College, Owosso

Anyone starting at Baker College's nursing program this Fall?

I'm think I'm ready to start. I have a Bachelors of Science under my belt already, but I'm still a little anxious.

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! I just graduated from Baker Owosso's nursing program in June. I recommend it, the main reason being that there is no waiting list like there is at some other schools. It's a very competitive program though so your grades have to be pretty high. I don't know how much you know already about the way students are accepted into the program there, but let me know if you have any questions about it.

I wouldn't recommend Baker's nursing program to anyone. I know people who had a bachelor's and failed out of the nursing program. The best advice I can give is to do the work and keep your head down! :uhoh3: Best of luck to you! If you need any help or advice let me know.

I've already been accepted as of June 29th. 2010. I was just wondering if there were any courses or anything that stuck out in your mind that would be helpful for a nursing student coming in.

gypsy76: You would only fail out after you were given a second chance. Baker, Owosso gives you a second chance before you are let go. After spending five years at a University and then attending Baker...I think the grades can be inflated at Baker because you can get extra points.... and people beg the profs for points back on exams.

I think having a Bachelors of Science ( i.e. all the courses to apply to medical school) have helped me a lot at Baker. I will be hitting the books hard this Fall. I have a good friend that was accepted too and its nice to know I have someone to compare notes with, etc. After hearing nursing students get into small cliques. Thank you for the advice!

I am aware that Baker allows a second chance. Unfortunately the class above me has lost 17 people, some failed for the 1st time and some for the 2nd!!!! I think that the program is flawed. How can the best of the best be accepted into a program and not hack it once they are in? This was not a well publicized possibility when I entered the program. It is hard to see the people that you become friends with, try so hard and not make it in Baker's program.

I go to a different campus but my suggestion to you is to go to the library at school and get a nursing fundamentals book and a nursing health assessment book and study over the summer. The first semester is really tough especially if you get behind or do not understand something so it is better to get the basics down before you start.

You already received your acceptance letter? I'm still waiting for my results from Baker college of Flint. We were told some time around the 1st/2nd week in August, we should receive our acceptance/rejection notices.

Yeah, same with us...I'm from Baker of Clinton Twp. I'm actually really jealous, I'm ANXIOUSLY awaiting our letters! lol

I've been accepted, just today I received my certified letter! Wow! I didn't expect to hear anything until August. I can breathe a sigh of relief now.

herasheis - what campus do you attend?

Oh alright. Congratulations to you! My friend and I are awaiting our letters from Baker Clinton Twp., although I'm attending MCC either way, but she's hoping on making it into Baker. Best of luck to you!!
