Background Check and Credit check???

I recently got hired at homehealth agency and they did a complete and thorough background check on me . And it included a credit check I was shocked to find out they had access to my checking and savings accounts. And all my credit card info was also involved with the back ground check . How is this info important to a background check I was kind of shocked really about how intrusive this is and how easily accessible my credit info and accounts were!!!!!!!!!! It DOES not seem relevant to me that they need this info as criteria to hire someone!!!!!

My experience is that the jobs posted on the hopsital websites will disclose if they need a background check.

I give out very little authorization or information these days. Employers, etc. are on a very strict need to know basis. I don't give my phone # or address in stores nor do I hand over my driver's license for returns which I have been asked to do. You didn't need my license when I made the purchase so why would I ever hand it over to you now?!

I also don't fill out my SS# or birthday on any application until I am hired. They don't need it until that time. Many don't realize they aren't even supposed to ask for validating docs for tax, etc. purposes until after the hire. Identity theft is running rampant so I watch my info like a hawk.

that's really good advice to follow!!! Thank you!!

One of my previous supervisors told me that when asked for her phone number in stores, that she always gave a false one. One way of keeping an unlisted, unpublished number private. I was complaining about how certain individuals always seemed to be able to get my number. Anyone who has ever been harassed or stalked knows what I'm talking about. Waiting until hire is a good idea to keep info from getting out there.
