just popping in to introduce myself. i joined allnurses years ago and then somehow lost the habit of message boards. well, i am back, have been a nurse for 5 years, 2 1/2 in the or. on the heart team for a little over a year. was a private scrub for an oral surgery practice prior to nursing school.

Hi, welcome back! I'm an OR nurse but have no experience in heart surgery. just curious, how did you get heart surg.experience? did you take a course or just got orientation in heart room? Thanks!!!:bow:

All it took was OJT and the willingness to take more call than the rest of the OR. We usually have 14-17 days per 6 week period while the rest of the OR has 2 or 3 days. For all that extra call we also get a 7% diff. Hearts can be real boring or REAL exciting.
