baby sleeping in same bed as parents

Someone who is related to me has a new baby. They mentioned by the way the baby has slept in their bed with them every night for his 8 week old life. I am worried they will accidently crush the baby, not mention a host of other issues. They basically told me this is what they want to do. I need help- what do my friends at All Nurses say?? Does this fall in the category of parental decisions and butt out?

Thanks in advance

It's hard to believe but it is a fact that in India most of baby sleep with their parents. Approximately 70-80% of child upto 2 year of age sleep with their mom.

If they are crushed in bed ???? then Population of India is?????

There is a contraption sold to keep baby in bed with mom and dad without the danger of crushing. It's a snuggle nest, available at Babies R Us and Target.

Great find Tazzi....Here's a pic. This one has an incline.

I am not a thrasher nor do I move around in my sleep. With my last child she slept in the same bed as me from the time she was born until she was almost 6 and she slept the best out of my children.

My husband, though, tends to do things he is not in control of while sleeping, like jumping up on his hands and knees in the bed and fighting imaginary snakes, so I think him sleeping in the same bed with a young baby/child is not a good idea.
