Hi everyone. Here's a question I hope you can answer: Must a person with a bachelor's degree in something other than nursing complete a BSN before moving onto an MSN? Just curious!
It's been a while since this was written but I am now working as an RN. Good luck to all of you whatever your situations are! Unless you are applying to military/federal programs (in which case an NLNAC-accredited Rn>BSN program might make sense), I would do your MSN online over time and just take advantage of your ability to work and gain experience that way. I personally want to avoid going back to school full-time (I did it for about 9 years and I'm done with it if I can help it). Good luck!
Here is a school that allows students with a bachelor's in another field to apply to the Master's Program. Only drawback would be you wouldn't have a BSN, just an MSN.

I'm years late to this thread and I too am a BARN!! I just graduated from an ADN program in May and I started working as an RN in a hospital this September. I hold a BA in Social Science and I refuse to get my BSN!! I do not see the point in paying the additional money to obtain a BSN when the end result is the MSN--I still haven't finished paying my loans for my BA mind you!! I'm planning on attending a college that allows BARNS>MSN. In NYS where I live there aren't too many. mmm333 I just wanted to say I love your candor and insight- thank you for solidifying in my mind what I already knew was the right thing to do!!
BARN's fo' life!!!
