Hi all!
I'm applying for APU's ELM program for Spring 2017 and I was curious to see who else was applying :) maybe we could chat about the application process!
Hi there,
My family and I are moving to SD and are in the process of buying a house. Sorry I don't know of anyone looking for a roommate. You might want to email Renee Dierking and see if there's a place you can post to find one?
So do you already have your BSN through the ELM program? Are you moving from one of the other campuses?
Hi Everyone! I just came across this thread as I was searching for reviews/feedback on APU's ELM MSN program. I plan to apply in July for the San Diego May' 18 cohort. I know it's only January and classes probably just started, but I'm curious how everyone is liking it so far? Also, for those that are choosing the FNP specialty, do you know if it includes any acute clinical rotations? I know FNPs typically work in primary care but I'm interested in ER and ICU. Any info would be greatly appreciated, I'm having a hard time finding reviews from students on this program. Thanks! :)
I had the same problem finding reviews so I made a blog as a reference for future students. I'm loving it so far! I plan on doing a semester recap at the end and posting it. They only briefly go over the post licensure (NP) part of the program in the beginning. A lot can change in 16 months before you start working on the NP portion so I'm not too sure what all of your options are. However, specialties for NPs are still relatively knew and therefore hard to find programs for. One of the 3rd semester students told me that if you want to specialize an option is doing FNP then finding an NP or MD in the specialty you want to work in. Apply there and let them know you would pretty want to work as a mentee to gain experience... Almost like a residency. She said that's pretty common for cardio/surgery NPs atleast in the so cal area. Hope that helps!
Yes! It's
Im still first semester so I don't have a whole lot on it yet but I do plan on posting tips or cool things I come across as I go and also a summary of each semester and possibly any tips I have that I wish I had known starting í ½í¸Š Feel free to ask any questions!
Thank you so much! I'm glad to hear you're liking the program so far, I hope your first semester goes smoothly :) I do have a couple more questions... In regards to paying for the program, were most students able to get enough loans to cover their tuition? I know you're not allowed to work during the first 18 months and I'll certainly need loans for both tuition and living expenses. Also, how many hours/days a week are you in clinical rotations and how many spent in class/lab? During the information meeting they mentioned clinical rotations take place throughout the first 18 months in addition to a 7 week residency at the end.
P.S. Thanks for sharing your blog link, looking forward to more posts!

Hi,
I will be starting the ELM program at the San Diego campus in May 2017. Anyone else starting there at the same time? It would be nice to connect.
