Hi all,

I applied and was accepted last cycle; however, I had to defer my enrollment a semester due to personal circumstances. I would be happy to answer any questions anyone has having gone through the process already!
Hello, congratulations on making it into the program! I would love to hear some of your tips/tricks/things we should know before going into the interview. I think that's where I may have messed up last time. Did you do it in person or zoom last time? And if you're uncomfortable you certainly don't have to say but I was wondering what your overall GPA and pre req GPA's are like. I feel like if that was the reason why they didn't pick me last time then they probably wouldn't have even asked for an interview but I'm not sure, I'm bummed that they wouldn't tell us the reason(s) why we were not accepted but oh well, it is what it is and with such a competitive program I'm just happy they liked me enough to do an interview last time. At least I can gain more experience and learn more before starting. Thankyou so much! And again congratulations!

OMG thank you ! I am so happy to see this post!
Deadline for applications were Sep 15. How long did it take to get a phone call for the interview or to know when you were accepted?
What are the interview question like? Is it in person or is zoom?
Did they tell you what the class schedule will be like? 4-5 days out of week? or 2-3 times out of the week. I know ill probably have to go part time at work but I fear in this economy it will be hard.
Also, I have EMT and ER experience but my GPA for both general and Science are 3.0 Do you know what they really look for?
I was in touch with someone else and they got accepted with no medical background. So not sure if they look more into your grades, experience or person statement?

Thank you! I had my interview over zoom. My interview was very much focused on my own experiences and what I learned from them. I would obviously prepare for basic questions such as why nursing, what does a nurse do, why NP over other healthcare professions, and why Azusa specifically. However, the bulk of the questions they asked me were mostly scenario based such as "describe a challenge you overcame and what you learned from that". I would have several examples in mind where you have demonstrated traits that would make you successful both in the program and as a nurse/health care provider and highlight those in your responses. Something they also asked me was if I have any spiritual practices and how I care for my emotional health because they want to make sure that you already have mechanisms in place to cope with stress and manage the workload. Overall I felt the questions were pretty straight forward and they were very much just trying to get to know me! I am also pretty introverted so to prepare and build my confidence I watched many YouTube videos for common nursing interview questions, then I compiled a list of like 20 questions and answers which I studied over and over and practiced out loud which helped a lot for me. 🙂
As for pre-requisites my non-science GPA was 3.8 and science GPA was 3.37!

Hey I just responded to another post regarding my interview! I got an invitation to interview only 2 1/2 weeks after the application deadline, but I did not get notified that I was accepted until about 5 weeks after the interview. They did provide a weekly time commitment chart which is ~60 hours per week between class time, clinical, and "prep time". The amount of time allocated to each varies each semester but about half of that is spent in the classroom/clinicals each week. They do not recommend working at all during this program.
I also have experience as an ER Tech! While medical experience is not required I think it definitely helped strengthen my application. I don't think there is any single part of the application they value over other areas. They want applicants who are well-rounded and can demonstrate the ability to succeed academically, but good grades alone are not going to get you accepted just like a lower GPA won't automatically rule you out. I would simply focus on highlighting your strengths such as having that medical background and experience that others may not and preparing strong responses for your interview that show you are prepared to take on the workload of this program.
