Has anyone made a facebook group for the Monrovia campus?
That's what I got in an email from them, or at least "by Friday".

Thank you!! My name is Molly, I just added myself ?
Hi everyone! I was admitted to the ELM program for the Spring 2023 start at the Inland Empire campus. I'm hoping to transfer over to the Monrovia campus if a seat were to become available. I noticed that some Monrovia campus classes are closed and I wanted to check and see if anyone knows whether or not that campus will hold a Spring start?
Thanks and congrats to you all!

@Mary P Did you end up enjoying your experience with APU and felt that it was worth the money? How big of a role does the "Christ-centered viewpoint" play into the curriculum or is just one or two classes only? Did you feel prepared after the 5 semesters to choose which MSN specialty you wanted?

Hi! yes. I definitely enjoyed the program, and more so because we didn't waste any time and they are trying to get us to work as nurses asap. Yes, its fast paced and it will feel like you're getting through material at 200 mph, but in my opinion it is best get it done in 1.5 years compared to other traditional BSN programs that take 3-4 years. (A lot of the material remains fresh in my mind too now that I'm reviewing everything for NCLEX currently.)
Like most nursing programs, they will be unorganized at times and flood us with work. But is very doable if you make this your priority and have a solid and committed study routine by the end of your first semester. You will find your groove, the first semester was A LOT of trial and error for me haha.
The Christ-centered viewpoint is not obsessive, but it is definitely sprinkled into little assignments here and there and yes I think 2 classes more heavily. They don't force Christianity on you though they just teach nursing values and patient care therapeutic techniques that could involve a Christian perspective. It was not a big deal for me tbh.
And yes, even by your 4th semester you will have already gone to most of the specialty units and you will get a feel of what they are all about. By then you will more than likely have a good understanding of what specialty you want for your NP post-BSN coursework.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer! I've put my deposit in for Summer 2023, but I'm still really nervous because I haven't yet heard from UCI or Concordia (and USF-OC's application isn't due until April 15th so I wouldn't hear back before APU's May start date). I was always planning to make whatever school I decided on as my priority, study hard, and get out into the field. What did you find worked best for you for studying?

The professors here are extremely helpful. I am glad to have chosen this program. We do have some math (but it's not a class). It's more like we have a session for a couple hours & then take a test the following week. It's only to be able to give medications. the professors at APU have been open and share their own experiences with you or share any mistakes they made as nurses which is helpful. It also helps when the cohorts go into the program helping on another and not look at it as a competition against one another. My entire cohort engages with each other and helps each other. program I would actually recommend.
