hi everyone! i need your help!! i was about to finalize my application to cgfns-ces until i found out that arizona also has concurrency issues with Filipino applicants for the nclex. i'm a 2010 graduate, passed the PNLE, had dialysis and hospital training and worked as a nurse for a year. Last year, I lived in California and then moved to Arizona because my husband's application was rejected by CaBON due to the concurrency issue. We didn't know that the issue is the same here in Arizona. Good thing I did a research about issues in Az BON before sending the payment to cgfns.
I read from some of the posts that graduates of 2012 and 2013 have been accepted to take the exam thanks to the new nursing curriculum and i'm wondering if some 2010, 2011 or other batches before me got a thumbs up from Az BON to take the nclex. Will my license and work experience help me be considered to take the exam? And do i have to take ielts/toefl even if the textbooks used by my school were in English? Our last option is to apply in Nevada but I'm really hoping there's a chance here in Az.
Hoping someone will share their experience :)
Hi plengzy. Welcome to arizona! What I did first was I just applied online at the cgfns website and filled out the form for cgfns CES professional report. Before the step they ask you to pay the application fee, you can print out the forms you need to sign and send to your school/s even if you haven't paid for the application yet. Cgfns requires you to pay within 60 days to continue the application. I did this so that my cgfns document won't expire right away. I filled out the form on January but paid the fee on Febuary when my school informed me they sent my documents to cgfns via lbc (which took 5-7 days to deliver). So instead of January 2015, my cgfns application expires on February 2015 which means I have 1 extra month to get all the things done for my nclex so that I don't have to pay $150 to renew my cgfns documents. Cgfns finished my paper work around the first week of April. I didn't expect that they finish it right away. But then I found out I still need to take an English exam before azbn processes everything. (boooo!)
Have you taken the IELTS or toefl exam?
Hi Azula, thank you for your immediate reply i really appreciate it. I took IELTS 3 years ago so i guess i have to take it again.
How about you, have you? is it better to take IELTS or TOEFL first before filling my CGFNS-CES? btw, can i have your email or where/ how can i contact you? i just wanna be your friend if you dont mind
I think it's better to pass the english exam before applying for the nclex because the cgfns expires after a year. But since you passed the IELTS before, I think you can apply for cgfns and IELTS/toefl at the same time because i'm pretty sure you wont be having a hard time with the ielts exam :) (that's if you want to take the nclex right away). You can email me at [email protected]
Hi rhea :) I submitted my fingerprint card last week. It'll take 4-6 weeks to process then maybe on November I'll receive the ATT if there's nothing wrong with my application. Yes, there's also a concurrency issue here but not as serious as Ca, i think. Lets just hope that our school report meets the azbn standard. They'll inform us if we need to take a class or a refresher course. When did you submit your application?
Hi Azula! Thank you for the reply. I just submitted my application 2 weeks ago, I checked the arizona online verification but they don't have my name yet. I also tried to apply here in california but they sent me a lot of requirements to submit to them, so I decided to apply in Arizona. I never thought they have their concurrency issues too. Did you take the toefl exam?

Hi demoniquenurse!! Cgfns already sent my documents to azbn but I still have to pass the toefl exam. They'll wait for my toefl result first before they process my application. I'm taking it this June/July. So for now, I'm focused on toefl. The speaking part is hard and they need a grade of 26/30 for that
what state are you from?
