Straight cathing a male patient who was around my age (25). That was awkward and I felt so bad doing it.
I had a situation like this, only we're about twice that age. The patient was one of our regulars whom I know well and was having urinary problems. The nurse prior to me was unable to place a foley. I just went in and placed a coude with absolutely no problems, except his embarrasment. I did everything I could to ensure his dignity, such as keep him covered for as long as possible and make the whole thing quick as I could, but I know he had difficulty with the whole procedure.
