Average IQ of a BSN nurse

In your professional opinion, what's the average IQ of a BSN nurse? Could, say, someone of average to slightly above average IQ become a nurse?:smokin:

I'm just curious as to why you're asking specifically about BSN nurses....

Because we all know that only BSN's have high IQ's. The rest of us got by on our good looks and fresh breath.:sneaky:

Lol Wuzzie, I sure as heck didn't get in on looks but I did chew gum a lot!!

Hm, maybe it was a closed-minded assumption to assume that just because more classes are required nowadays for an RN doesn't mean that older RN's didn't have a tough time getting in.

I have heard stories of nurses working in hospitals since the 70's with next-to no education whatsoever, that is where I got that idea. I have heard it from different individuals but for some reason I didn't fact check it and look into it as far as I should've.

Honest mistake.

The concept of IQ is extremely controversial, and for all that say it's an arbitrary number than means nothing is being more closed-minded than my above statement. People with IQ's less than 85 have HUGELY difficult times learning. Just getting a person with an IQ of 80 to ride a bike can take 30 times as long as a person with an IQ of 100.

It's important, and if you want to be a registered nurse with an IQ of 100 I encourage you to try your absolute heart out like everyone else, but don't be surprised to find that you're having a difficult time maintaining 90's to stay competitive with the people who are trying just as hard as you and have IQ's in the 120's. They will get in long before you will. It's just the way our system is run.

IQ isn't everything. I get that, but it's a factor, and to assume that one can be a nurse if they simply "work hard" is just faulty information. It takes more than working hard. You have to be bright as well, and having a high IQ is one way of measuring success in academics and in life in general.
