Hey Guys,
Dont even really know where or how to start this process so any advice appreciated.
Effectively I have been an RN in Australia for the past 20 years predominantly in acute hospital ER and more recently - hospital managerial positions.
Approximately 12 months ago I decided to embark on a career change and took a job as a Flight Attendant. This role entails me travelling 3-4 times a month between Sydney Australia and Los Angeles staying in the Long Beach area. When in the US, we generally have 3-4 days off which allows more than enough time for rest and generally alot of sitting around waiting to fly home. Thus my interest in seeking employment in the US on a casual or part time basis as an RN doing around 3-4 shifts per month.
I understand the first phase in this process is successful completion of NCLEX but wonder if any one can comment on whether once completed, whether I would likely have any luck obtaining employment as above?
I currently enter the US on a (I believe) class 1C/D visa which does not permit me to work within the US.
Would the first step then be to try and find an employer willing to support me in obtaining the appropriate VISA in exchange for a committment (contract) from me for a set number of shifts / hours per month?
Appreciate any advice.
Cheers
Stuart

I think you will find it very hard to get a visa allowing you to work in this situation.
Thanks Silverdragon.....that is my fear and the main reason I'm reluctant to commit the time / finances to completing my NCLEX.
Is it possible to organise / apply for your own VISA or do you always need a US employer to sponsor it?
You need a employer to get a visa whether it is H1b or GC or whatever they are employer driven

No chance at all.
Work visas generally require fulltime employment.
