Hi,
I am an Australian RN who is engaged to an American man. We are hoping to move to the States next year. I am looking into getting my registration in Florida or Alabama.
Are there any Australian Nurses out there who have been successful in gaining registration in the States? I do not have Obstetrics or Paediatric experience, does anyone know how I can go about taking extra courses for these specialities?
Trying to sort through the enormous amount of info on the net and thought I would try to see if there is anyone out there who has been through this who can offer advice!
Thank you :)

Since US licensure is controlled at the state level, you will need to work directly with the state(s) in which you're interested. HERE is a web site with links to all state BONs. There may be a few hoops to jump through, but those sources can probably also help you figure out how to "level up" with OB & Pedi. At least you won't have to worry about English proficiency.
Best of luck on your transition & relocation.

From what I have seen from other posts difficult to get the courses required when meeting state requirements

You don't need experience you need coursework that includes clinical and theory. It's near impossible to do in the US. Deakin University offered the courses years ago but have long since stopped
Thank you for your response! I found a link for a Maternity course run by Deakin, but it may be old and I would need to call them to see if it is still on offer.
Good luck. It's been reported in the last few years Deakin ceased these classes
