Hi everyone, my name is Ryan. I am a Registered Nurse currently working in Melbourne, Australia. I would like to move to New York City. Just wondering if anyone here done it before or on the same pathway?
From my understanding, the steps of moving to US (New York state) for RN involve:
1. Starts with CGNFS for transcript evaluation), they will send the evaluation to NYSED.
2. Apply nursing license through NYSED.
3. Sit for NCLEX test.
4. Apply for jobs in NY.
5. Apply E3 visa.
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I am at the very first stage now, submitting my application to CGNFS.
If you have the same goal as me, either moving to US/ NY, please do not hesitate to contact me. We can work together to achieve the goal!..
Thanks!

CVS with CGFNS requires CGFNS to do all the work, you just need to sign paperwork and pay fee. Process takes approximately 6 months so do not apply to NY until closer the 6 months mark. Many Australian nurses find they have a deficiency in Obstetrics on their transcripts so be aware this may be a issue.

Hi, Z4skiing
I saw your comment is quite recent, I am trying to look into working and migrating to the USA
I am from Australia, work in ED
How did you go with getting your license in America
/ Where did you get your degree in Australia
Did you need to do make up courses in OBS and Peads?
Would love some tips and help!

Hi guys
I did my bachelors in nursing here in Sydney. My background is in anaesthetic and recovery nursing. Currently, working in PACU at Sydney Chidrens Hospital.
The area that we lack in - how do we make up? do we doing a bridging course or enrol in university? I was wanting to register in NYC.
