Austin/San Marcos relocation//hospice

Published

My boyfriend will be going to grad school in San Marcos. I have experience in hospice and med surg/onc nursing - prefer hospice. We are trying to figure out if we should live in between San Marcos and Austin, or just plan on San Marcos. Wondering if the job opportunities are good in San Marcos. The Central Texas Medical Center website lists no RN jobs available - which is hard to believe. Also, they state that they have hospice services out of CTMC, but no info about that. I know that Austin has several hospices and Hospice of Austin seems like a very nice hospice - never see any job postings, so turnover must be slow...good sign. Anybody out there living in San Marcos? Working in San Marcos? It seems like I would have a greater pick of jobs if we lived in Kyle or Buda, but haven't seen any houses for sale on line that we really like. Any input would be appreciated.

Looks like someone screwed up when they updated the website..I checked on monday and there were several, including some marked "new".

I worked at CTMC for 2 years as a CNA/PCT they gave me a LOA to go back and work in MI to satisfy requirements for TX, but unfortunately there have been no openings for a lvn for months :( I was SOOO disappointed.

I noticed that between Momday and today, the catagory LPN was eliminated from the job posting drop down menu. Give HR a call and ask! Main number is 512.353.8979

you can also check statesman.com -- that's the Austin paper and all the classifieds are online.

GOOD LUCK

Thanks, I'll give them a call

Hello.....I work in San MArcos. (not in the medical field) If you chose to live in San MArcos, Austin would not be that long of a commute for you. Kyle and Buda are just booming with new houses right now. If you decide to live in SAn MArcos, New Braunfels is just 15 miles south of there. Their hospital is McKenna. That might be something to look into also. :p

I lived in Austin when I went to grad school in San Marcos. Its about 30 minutes away and its an easy commute. Austin seems to have a lot more opportunities for every field than you will find in in any of the small towns around San Marcos. Though its more expensive to live in. Hope that helps.

I noticed that you live in San Antonio so though about findout some information about this place. Well I will be immigrationg from Pakistan in couple of months and was wondering to collect as much as information I could get from everywhere.

Would appreciate if you could breif me about the hospitals and other jobs, transport system and schools as I woudl be coming with my family and all my kids are school going.

As far as hospitals go, there many here in San Antonio. There's the Methodist hospital systerm, and Baptist Health Care system, Christus Santa Rosa, I'm sure others could name you more... and many openings for nurses. As far as transportation goes, the public transportation system just consists of buses, not really any trains or anything as would be in the northern U.S. I've only been here a short while, so I'm sure others that have been here a while could inform you better. Good luck
