Austin Community College ADN Fall 2020

Published

This is getting real and I'm eager for someone to be nervous with. I'm waiting for them to announce the Fall 2019 HESI, and am worried I'll drop the ball on something. Let's make a community here!

That's very high.

It will likely lower over the course of the next week as people turn down their spots.

I'm so close to 38, I'm hoping there are enough spots that open up! Fingers crossed.

The bright side is not getting in for Fall is that they'll hopefully have COVID-19 figured out enough by Spring that the program will be 100% back on campus. Online school was HARD and level 1 is 32 hours behind in clinicals that we have to make up.

I thought y'all were doing clinicals online? Or was that not for level 1?

BON only allows for 50% of clinicals to be sim or online so we still have 32 hrs to do in person. They're hoping to get us in this Summer if facilities will take us.

HI. I was wondering if you could tell me about the registration process? We are getting our emails that will tell us what campus and all the "next steps" including registration tomorrow. I am wondering if we will be registering tomorrow or at a later date?

Once you get assigned your campus, you register for two classes per 8 week session at the same time. Those are they only options available so it's really easy!

Thank you! It is so hard being in the dark about the process. Do we just have one choice for professors or are there multiple teachers for classes? I am hoping for Eastview.

No choice for professors. Everyone is in the same class and the professors rotate lecturing and teaching labs.

The uncertainty is what killed me when I was waiting so I'm always happy to answer questions!

Make sure to join the ADNSA so you can sign up to get a Big Nurse mentor!

Then does that mean we’ll have clinicals different days of the week? I saw for eastview there was possibility of Saturday clinicals.. that wouldn’t be nice having clinicals on Saturday every single week ?

After you get assigned your campus, they'll send out clinical preferences forms. You get to rank your choices of days/facilities. Clinical days are usually back to back and you don't have to choose Saturdays.

With everything that's going on, it might be a minute before they have clinical sites/days set so I would be patient.

Your week is going to look something like this:

Monday AM: Lecture

Tuesday: Lab. You'll get assigned either AM or PM

Wednesday AM: Lecture

Weds PM thru Sat: 2 days will be clinical days.
