...Seton doesn't have much for LVNs..even in the Lockhart Clinic they want "clinic" experience
St David's system has a few LVN Med/surg. jobs open. Some of them seem to have been posted for quite a while.
Anyone have any knowledge of the St David system they's be willing to share with me? PM is OK ..
thanks
Sandy

I had no idea Austin was like this but I should not be surprised I guess...it is an unusual place compared with the other good sized Texas cities. (where LVN's are welcome)
I work side by side in critical care with experienced LVN's...some of whom have more experience than I do in critical care. We limit LVN's only by their own wishes in our ICU....they can go as far as they wish. Some hospitals and units DO limit the LVN's practice in the DFW area, however, mine does not. :)
Good luck and hope you find something rewarding in your area. :)

St David's is owned by HCA and is for profit; Seton is a non-profit organization. Of the two systems, Seton wins hands down for pay and benefits. I think the nursing culture is vastly superior at Seton as well. I've worked agency at both institutions.
Thanks mattsmom and avigail....confirms my "gut". I've been watching their websites since before I moved back here, and have to say I'm fairly impressed with Seton.
I've applied for a prn at the Lockhart Clinic- that will get my "foot in the door" and hopefully lead to a full time position.
Thanks for the replies!
