Hey there! I know it is really early, but I wanted to get a head start and connect with others who are also applying! We can use this forum to answer each others questions and just provide words of encouragement! ?
Best of luck to everyone!

My app is still Ready for Review. ? LOL. But I actually live in Augusta. Hopefully someone else can give you even more resources, but check out State of Georgia pre-nursing and nursing students, Connect Augusta, and Augusta Entrepreneur Group (FB Groups) to learn more. Augusta University itself has a FB page. But if you want to know more about Augusta totally reach out!

That’s so hard! But seriously, congrats! It’s a good problem to have. Haha! I only applied to Augusta, cause I have kiddos and my hubby has a job, so I’m really lucky to already live where they have the program I want to do!

That is great that you are so close to the school! I hope you get an acceptance soon! What is Augusta like for you? I've heard varying and conflicting descriptions.
I agree that it's a good problem to have, but I'm losing sleep over this decision. Both schools have great attributes. I think the hardest part is that I've never been to Georgia or the school for that matter. Had it not been for Covid, I would've toured the school by now. I've visited the other school/area, so I somewhat know what I'm getting into with that one. And since Augusta's program is accelerated and a lot less units than the other school, I worry about not having enough experience/knowledge once I graduate. What are your thoughts?

My experience with AU and AUMC have all been awesome! The other schools I went to were much larger campuses and it was overwhelming. I feel like the size of AU is perfect. It’s big enough to offer you everything you need and still be personal. The building where courses are is right by the hospital, and students really seem to be prepared well. I have 3 friends who completed this program, and while they said it’s intense (obviously) they all loved it. I don’t know any professors in the program, but the professors I had in my undergrad courses were great mentors and I’m sure that culture goes across the board.
Augusta itself has its plusses and minuses, just like everywhere else. I’m not from the south and the heat and humidity kill me! I have visible tattoos that aren’t usually a problem, but they’ll have to be covered for the program. The downtown area is unlike anywhere I’d lived before. I feel like Augusta is the perfect representation of disparities though, and that can be tough to see. But there are lots of amazing nonprofits and groups that do things like feeding the homeless, teaching puberty education, cleaning up the Savannah River, and so much more!
I think it definitely depends on what you like to do and what each place had to offer. There’s some cool walking trails, lots of art (downtown is covered with incredible murals), great collaboration between students, but definitely the potential to witness some casual racism.

Congrats on your acceptance. You will do well during/ after this program. With the MSN-CNL curriculum, you will excel in the nursing role and beyond ?

Thank you so much! I appreciate your insight! I'm not trying to decide 3 great schools, and Augusta, while not as prestigious, has a great program, for about half the cost (even with out of state fees), and will be completed 8 months sooner. I'm wondering how much prestige and living in a great city for 2 years can compete with the cost difference for the same degree.

? The cost is definitely a big factor since this program is 16 months long. It is definitely expensive $35K plus... however, it is cheaper and faster comparing to other nursing programs in GA. My advice is to do a cost analysis for all the programs that you got into. Think about the bigger picture... What are your end goals? Are you staying in GA? Are you staying at bedside or traveling? Are you pursuing additional schooling (CRNA/NP) later on? Are you thinking about leadership positions? Remember this is an entry level to nursing. You will most likely start out with bedside nursing to gain experience. However, it also sets you up for success since you have an MSN (and the CNL certification if you take the exam). You will see more open opportunities like grad schools/ leadership/ educator positions. The median income for nurses in GA is 60k+/year. For a CNL position, it starts at $85k/year..... Traveling nurses make even more!
@Internet_user1010101 Definitely, there is a lot to consider. For an out of state student, the cost is $68k+ just for tuition. But the other programs I was accepted to are over $100k. I want to go on to get a NP and/or DNP, so I'll have to take out more loans. So the shorter and less costly program is enticing. So because of that, I may or may not stay in GA. It just depends on where I get in for the next program. And I've been thinking of doing the traveling nurse thing, I think it would be fun to check out other places to work, and with the extra money from that, I could pay down my loans quicker.

Thank you! I was able to set up the email and get to the deposit page, but I don’t have any other info to go on about how much is due and when? How long did they give you to make your decision?
