I just want to ask, how come August VB is "U" and there are still approval of AOS? does this mean that there are still visas left? or these were already assigned in July. Will the approvals continue until Aug 17? How come they are continuously giving approvals in AOS and cancelled some interviews under CP in Aug? I saw card production dates in AUg 2 and 8. I don't want to sound that I am not happy for those who got their GC through AOS its just that I feel bad for us those who are stuck in packet3 and to those who had their scheduled interviews cancelled. I envy those who got their GC and at the same time I am happy for you! I just want to know why.... Thanks!

Some of the people you are seeing AOS done filed before retrogression started last October a lot in EB3 are coming from other routes ie H1b and they have been waiting even longer.. The reason that AOS is continuing until the 17th August is due to lots of lawyers threatening law suits due to the yes we will make things current then a couple of days later chaos and change of mind. No one really knows where these extra visas are coming from and will probably have an impact on the new releases in Oct. Yes it is very frustrating but not a lot we can do but wait it out.
Just my take on things

AOS and CP are completely different. The AOS petitions had to be submitted before the cut-off date last year to even be able to start the process, and they needed to meet requirements of residency in the US first.
-------------------------
What was done last year is over with, and is no longer able to be done.
What you are seeing now is that green cards are being released thru Nebraska service center, they are about a month behind Texas. These visa numbers were already assiged weeks ago, not that they are just being assigned now.
So this is why I get very upset now when I hear that someone has just flown over to the US a couple of months ago, even a few weeks ago, on a tourist visa with the idea of staying and being able to work. It is not fair to any of you that have been waiting and are doing things properly. Last year was last year but since there has been a retrogression for all since last October, it is just not acceptable behavior to me. And to immigration either.
So where some are applauding them, it should be far from that. Booed would be better.
Suzanne4 and Silverdragon, Thanks for your prompt reply. It's just really frustrating! a month ago there was a big chance for us but now, we don't know how long to wait again. :(

Yup, and the funny thing is, I'll quote a previous post of Silverdragon102:
"The reason that AOS is continuing until the 17th August is due to lots of lawyers threatening law suits due to the yes we will make things current then a couple of days later chaos and change of mind."
They get to action(fear changes things) whenever legal action is to be taken against them...Good for the AOS applicants who have very active lawyers/lawyer groups, they have a voice(including the lawmakers who stand behind them)...Haven't seen anything from the CP side though...
And to quote ma'am Suzanne:
"So this is why I get very upset now when I hear that someone has just flown over to the US a couple of months ago, even a few weeks ago, on a tourist visa with the idea of staying and being able to work. Thank you very much ma'am Suzanne for the support to us who are on the CP route...
However, no one is to be blamed but the people in power/position/authority in the USA who call the shots...
What you are forgetting now, and a very big part of it:
Just because USCIS got forced to accept these petitions, remember there is nothing in place that they must approve them at all. The attorneys get paid when they can get the petitions submitted, so they are happy. They could care less if they get denied or not, they got paid.
And as I said before, someone came here a year ago on a tourist visa , things were quite different then. Now is now, and any wishing to do that thinking that they are better than the others that have been waiting here and doing things the legal way, not going to help them at all. Two of my co-moderators have been waiting and waiting and they have take the time to do things the legal way. And the way that things should be done, for those that do not consider them under requirements of US Immigration Law, and they will not get help from me with their tourist visa and wanting to remain in the US, or come over here and adjust their status.

I'm new here and I don't know if this is answered already. With the current situation where AOS is flooding the USCIS, how worst would the next retrogression would be?
retrogression is still in progress, it is just a small window for AOS and immigration have said they will reject ones not completed properly, nothing much has changed especially for the ones going consular processing, some have had interviews and a few have had their interviews cancelled
