Attitudes of Second Coursers who are taking up Nursing in the Philippines

Published

I am a second courser who is taking up nursing, as my second course and I am wondering if there is an attitude problem with regards to second coursers taking up nursing(not all, but most of them). Given in my school, most of the second coursers there tend to be manipulative, sneaky, backfight, and spread rumors, as if they dont have nothing to do. I am wondering if this is quite normal as when I studied my first course, people were kind of tame and quiet, and be friendly.

Given the fact that these people aspire to be future nurses, they dont have the tender loving care to take care of their patients in the long run, and they just think of money, so I am wondering how this people can go about to being future nurses then?

I hope anyone can share their insights on this matter. I would like actually to do a research for this for my nursing research class, unfortunately I did a different topic. Though I want to know the opinions of other second coursers then..

not all second coursers acts like that way. it really depends on the person though I agree that most of them right now are looking on the "money" side and not having the passion at all for the course.

not all second coursers act that way, though I agree that most of them right now is just looking at the "money" side and not having the true "passion" for the career itself.

Just want to clarify to you dearest Dizzydean that people who posted here dont generalize second courser. We just shared our experiences with second coursers that some are good some are not that really good. Because no matter we do, despite their attitudes, like what GSG9ers said, we all have different personality. ANd one of the qualities of a good nurse is being flexible to all personalities and handle it... : )

Yes I understand, It is just my opinion that it's better not to lump people in a category or label people. I don't see why we can just say "nurses with attitude problems". It's this labeling that gives an impression & is imprinted to other people's mind which leads to a preconceived judgement to a certain group of people. It may sound idealistic but I really feel that this sort of thing leads to discrimination. I hope you guys understand the point i'm trying to get across.

i think that attitude is never a function of being a "second courser" or not. a person can be the most manipulative, scheming and ill-willed human being on the planet because he chooses to be so...not because he has decided to change careers.

in ANY group.... there's always a possibility of a rotten apple... we can't please everybody
