BS Computer Science + BS Nursing = Nursing IT?
... so what's needed to be able to qualify as informatics nurse? would it mean that my previous degree in computer science would all come to waste? thanks
-
computer science before now nursing..
count me in... I am both a graduate of BS Math major in Computer Science and BS NUrsing.... now I don't know where to begin... is being a graduate of both courses enough for me to work as a nurse informaticist just now? I recently passed NCLEX california and heard about this nursing informatics stuff.... but i cant find any nurse informatics job here in the philippines... perhaps it still doesn't exist here...

computer science before now nursing..
I am one of recently NCLEX passers who used to be a computer analyst/programmer... Well, I love nursing now 'coz to work in a Hospital used to be my childhood dream (I don't know why did I ever entered computer science)... Lately, I've been hearing about this nursing informatics type of job and I don't know where to start... it's as if I wanted to try nursing informatics so as not to waste my former profession... however, it seems to me that nursing informatics is not yet existent in the Philippines...

BS Computer Science + BS Nursing = Nursing IT?
i am a graduate of b.s. math major in computer science with employment backround in it... recently, i am also a graduate of b.s nursing and passed nclex in california... does this mean i'm automatically qualified to work as a nurse informaticist? it seems to me that this particular job is still non-existent here in the philippines...

Accused in 2006 exam leakage exonerated
i graduated last april 2006 at one of the nursing schools here in manila... at that time, i felt the pressure of taking the june 2006 nle because: 1st, i realized that taking nle is not something that you urgently must take right after graduation... earning a bsn degree doesn't really mean we're already loaded with ammunitions enough to conquer the rigorous exam... 2nd, i was a member of the student council representing not just nursing but the whole bunch of students in that college... with so many things needed to finish before graduation, i can't get myself into reviews, i was tied up with so much responsibilities... i envied my classmates who, as early as january, have the time to go to review centers while going to school.. ...for some reason, im really considering to take the dec 2006 exam knowing that it will delay me for 6 months... my parents were angry saying that im wasting time but when the ill-fated june 2006 exam took centerstage, i prayed to god that somehow he guided me to delay taking nle in order to study further... my opinion with the leakage still remains the same... one of the members of bon (i think there were 5 at that time) should be apprehended for tarnishing the nursing reputation in the philippines... there's no magic in it... one of them expedited the questionnaires for money...

NCLEX Books to Study?
case in point... if you are 3 months from the date of your nclex exam, you can read a book for 2 months (saunders is good for this purpose) but if you only have 1 month left, just answer questions that mimic the nclex style in the computers (i used mosby and kaplan trainer for this purpose) relying solely on books doesn't get you closer to understanding rationales in actual questions... the reason for this is that nursing encompasses a wide range of topics and with the time/pressure factor, we can't really saturate our brains with that tons of information... there's always this tendency to forget... answering questions on the other hand provides our minds with stimulation that provokes critical thinking that we can't get by reading books alone...

Accused in 2006 exam leakage exonerated
the BON members are the only people who make the examinations... therefore its logical to think that the leakage CAME FROM 1 OF THEM!! t

What's Your Exprience Being Eldest In Your Class (a 2nd Courser Tale!)
i hate this.. i was also a 2nd courser.. and i hate the fact that some nasty 2nd coursers would try their c.i.s or professors just by the mere fact that they are cum laudes... so what?... they may have been cum laudes in their previous courses but hey... this is nursing, and even if it will feel humiliating sometimes that a teacher 10 or 20 years our junior would give their lecture on us... let's face the fact that when it comes to nursing, the professors are well versed in the field than we 2nd coursers... we must by all means conform to their teachings... unless its necessary to ask a teacher for clarifications, trying to test their knowledge in nursing would be unethical... i thought they are cum laudes? they should be more mature than that...are they trying to be grade-conscious again?haha... if they think they are that smart, why enroll themselves in a nursing school when they knew that they will be taught by a younger person? better get an online degree...
