Hello everyone, sorry this is my first post on here so I hope it's in the right topic category. I am currently an LVN in California and am interested in attending a nursing school in Florida (hybrid). I was accepted in a local program but it won't start until Fall 2023 and I am ready to be an RN already! My question is this: If I attend an non accredited nursing school but state approved in FL for ASN (RN). Will California allow me to apply for endorsement if the courses, pre-requisties, and clinical hours all meet CA BRN requirements? I have contacted the CA BRN and haven't received a definite answer on this. On the paper license by endorsment application it states "State Approved? Yes or No" but that's all that I can find. I've heard from others on here that if your school isn't accredited it can't transfer for endorsement.. so wondering if anyone has an answer to this. Thanks! (I should add that all my CA required general education courses were all completed at a regionally accredited CA University and that the non accredited ASN program in FL has an articulation agreement with an accredited University for RN-BSN, if that means anything!)

I am sorta in the same boat as you. I am a resident of New Jersey and I will be attending a RN program in Florida for two semesters. The nursing school is called Care Hope college and the school is only STATE APPROVED. I’m confident that I will be able to take the NCLEX and they are affiliated with an RN to BSN program. However, the one thing I am super worried about is future endorsement in my state or other states. I called my state BON and they cannot give me a straight answer. After thorough research, I’ve come to the conclusion that most state BONs honor the approval of the program in the state that it’s been approved. The nursing program must be state board approved to be considered. BONs could request additional proof of coursework (other than transcript), completion of mandatory courses for licensure, or simply deny the application. I would suggest asking admission counselors at your school specifically about endorsement or try to get in contact with dept of education in your state.

Yes I’ve called CA BRN and no straight answer here either. I know I will be able to do an accredited BSN program no issue.. and the curriculum and clinical hours that CA requires. So I hope it’s okay??? good luck to you as well! I almost attended the same school as you but I found another option for my schedule and $18k!

Feel free to ask questions ?
im also coming from a different nursing program and just want to finish my last semester, im also looking into AHI college. are you already enrolled?
Just so I understand
You are currently enrolled in International college of health sciences? If so, are you asking for more information about care hope college because you would like to transfer out of international college of health sciences?
I was actually looking into international college, are they a bad school?
yes I would like to transfer, there is lack of communication from school, they don't communicate anything with students and making everything very hard.
Only few students passed last semester and rest all failed. I think they are doing on purpose.
Care hope college is only state approved, there is documentation that they have applied for institutional accreditation. But, as of right now they are only approved by the Florida board of nursing to allow students to become eligible to take the NCLEX.
after research, international college has accreditation and can be found on the US database for accredited institutions. Care hope college can not be found.
Care hope college is accepting all of my nursing core courses, next I’m scheduled to take my TEAS exam, and then I will be enrolled for two semesters.
My take on things is as long as I am able to get my nursing license, and enroll into an ACCREDITED RN to BSN program than I’m okay. I was in another accredited asn program with one semester left so I’m just trying to finish as quickly as possible but also being aware of the risks and benefits from this particular program.

Yes, I am aware unfortunately
however I attended a prior nursing school and have resources to ensure I pass my NCLEX on the first go.

I hope so and best wishes for your success. It is very difficult to become self taught as learning about the different types of NCLEX questions and directly dealing with a topic you don't like or don't think is important will trip you up.
I am so all for advancing education and wish things were easier for LPNs. Can I ask you WHY you are choosing this school curriulum or any other Florida nursing school with poor passing rates? If you have such good resources why didn't they help with the first school? Not being mean or argumentative, just I really want to know why these schools with poor passing rates, still attract students. I really what to understand the motivation to risk your time/money/effort to gamble for an ADN degree. I am asking this sincerely...Every month someone on AN reports they are going to Florida to take an LPN to RN course. Usually with poor pass rates. I am writing an article (no names if you wish) to explain this, motivation, cost, and convenience. Maybe you can tell me about your previous school too. Maybe we can wake up the ADN schools in other states if they see what LPNs need for an LPN to RN course of study.
