ATI at school: Did it help you in passing NCLEX

I may have replied to your post on the NCLEX forum but i'm not sure may have been someone elses post. ANYWAY..... I did the ATI review course while in school. We had access to every test and had to take 3 proctored exams. I loved it for the review of content based questions, and it also helped improve my test taking skills. My last proctored exam I made a 78(I think) and it said I had a 99.9% of passing NCLEX. I took NCLEX 7/7/06 and I passed. However, I also used Saunders and the 7 Kaplan trainer test. For me, Kaplan was the biggest help of all because it is really similiar to the NCLEX format. I hope this helps, if you have any other questions just ask..

We did ATI in school too, and had access to non-proctored tests as well as having 3 or so proctored tests. As a learning tool, it was great (my program used the proctored tests as mid-terms and finals...in that way they had no idea what would be on test and as a result there were questions on things we never covered in theory). The NCLEX predictor test was a great boost to my self esteem and my belief that I could pass the NCLEX (which I took on 7/8 and passed!!!) I also used the Kaplan study guide which teaches you strategies for choosing the correct answer. Honestly, though, I think the Kaplan book was a bigger factor in my passing than ATI was.

I also had it in school all 4 nursing semesters. I liked the non-proctored ones as I got rationales each time I answered a question, wrong or right. So in that sense it's a good thing.

I also did proctored tests which were good in forcing me to make a concrete decision as I couldn't go back once a question was answered. The 2 tests we used as NCLEX predictor tests were good for boosting our confidence (scored a 66 on one and a 72 on the other).

However, we then took the Kaplan review and I based more of my knowledge on Kaplan and Saunders than ATI other than to skim the med-surg ATI book because it breaks it down very simply and abbreviated yet thoroughly.

I also had the ATI while I was in nursing school...had the books, DVD's, non proctored and proctored exams. Most of them I scored above the 50th percentile..except a couple. We also had two ATI predictors. The first predictor I took, I had a 96% chance of passing the NCLEX, however on the second one..it dropped down to being a 74% chance of passing the NCLEX. I thought the second indicator was harder than the first one. Personally I don't think ATI was a very good indicator on how well you'll do on the NCLEX. I studied using Saunders and Kaplan and I found out i passed the boards yesterday. I guess it really depends on the individual.
