ATI--NCLEX-RN...Review

Published

Has anyone used the ATI RN Review after the have failed the nclex and passed..Just wondering if anyone have expericene with this instiute..please share your views..Thanks.

I just found out today that I passed the NCLEX-RN.

I also used that ATI review program with DVD's, books and online practice questions. It's useful though, but I still prefer the Kaplan Q-trainers. I find it closer to the actual test.

Have you tried Suzanne's plan? it's an excellent review material for content. I highly recommend it. you can also use this site for review. http://www.slideshare.net/search/slideshow?q=nclex&submit=post&commit=Search

I don't recommend you using ATI tests for NCLEX.

I would not pass if I only used ATI. As a matter of fact, I only purchased ATI package because it was required for school.

For the NCLEX:

1. Saunder is best for knowledge questions, e.g.allergy before procedure, side effects of medications, nutrition...

2. Kaplan is best for strategies, e.g. which pt to see first (A. pt with hypoglycemic B. pt is having these certain sx C. pt with a headache D. Pt who is vomiting ____just for example), priority questions...

I used both and passed on the first attempt.

But the ATI books are helpful.

I disagree, I used Saunder on my First NCLEX and I failed. I will use ATI for the second test. Saunder was incomplete in the content and did not review many topics covered on the actual NCLEX. Moreover, the questions are in a different format and phrased differently.

People use all kinds of review resources to prepare for the NCLEX and are either successful or not successful. Most of the time it boils down to how well you prepare, not the resource you use. And the test is not an easy one to begin with, it is impossible to predict.

I agree but for my experience with the exam on Tuesday was that Saunders was an incomplete review text. It lacks in psych, lacks in disease based nutrition, lacks in STDS, etc. Bottom line is, it needs supplementation.

It's been 48 hours and my results are still not up :(.

I would NEVER use the ATI for nclex review. The best is KAPLAN. The ATI review is expensive and has a lot of hype involved with it but the questions do not prepare you for the test. I know I tried it.

ATI's pretests in many cases are full of incorrect and outdated information. Their post-graduation 3 day NCLEX review is a dog & pony show. I relied solely on that review and the material provided to take my NCLEX and I failed. ATI is a tool used by schools to maintain their accreditation and nothing more. ATI is about making money and I have even had a professor of mine admit to me that she was fairly sure that nurses were not making up the content on the ATI tests. I have taken 100's of snapshots of ATI questions with snipping tool (found in windows 7) and shared them with nurses who flat out say they are wrong! For instance, ATI believes that nurses are the ones who ensure a patient understands a surgical procedure they have upcoming when in fact that is the physicians responsibility. ATI also does not know the difference between side effects and adverse side effects. ATI believes that nurses are responsible for helping victims of physical abuse develop escape plans the next time they are abused. Of course, ALL of these are WRONG. All their NCLEX review did for me was have me study materials I wasn't even tested on when I took my NCLEX. ATI is a complete waste of time and effort. I graduated an accredited university with a Bachelors in Nursing with a 3.25gpa and failed the NCLEX because I relied on ATI to provide a quality review and used their materials to study. What I got turned out to be a bad joke and now a horrible situation. There's a reason ATI doesn't want anyone copying their questions on tests. There's a reason ATI reps won't speak directly to students. There's a reason you can never get a nurse on the line to speak to at ATI. They are trying to cover up the fact that they are in the business of making money, not educating students.

Our class received the 3 day ATI review as well. Although I didn't fail NCLEX, I would like to say that ATI helped somewhat. The strategies were nice and their review book was great. However, I loved the NCSBN course and I paired that along with the ATI tips and review book and it was all I needed.
