has anyone taken the ATI exams? if so can you tell me what to expect? My school is stressing about it... I'm wondering if it's really worth it since I have the Mosbys, Saunders and other Nclex review books that I can study from. ..... your opinion matters!!!!:D :nurse::yeah:

The ATI test is similar to the tests you take in the classes, it's just more standardized. I think the reason they're so caught up in them is because the ATI's are said to be good indicators of how you'll do on the NCLEX.

I reviewed my ATI books and our program gave us two online practice tests to take to see what it's like.

Is your ATI test the fundamentals one, or a course specific?

Best of luck!

the ati r just like the other person stated just like standard test just try to ur best on them b/c at the school i went to they sometimes would give us 1 or 2 pts at the end of the semester & u never know u may just need it & also i think the test is very similar to the nclex test

my school uses ATI also. we take a few tests online throughout the semester, then at the end of the semester we take a pencil paper tests. it gives you a good breakdown of what you got right, wrong, what to study and how you'll do on the nclex. it's also broken up by subject (ie--peds, ob, fundamentals, pharm etc)

I found the non-proctored tests throughout the semester to be helpful. If you answer wrong, you get the rationale behind why you were wrong and why the correct answer was better. I say "better" because when you are taking these tests you have to remember that frequently there are 2 "correct" answers to choose from and you must choose the best of the 2. The proctored tests at the end of the semester kicked my booty! In fact, only 5 people passed the fundamentals and 2 passed the pharmacology on the first try. We are allowed to take the proctored tests twice and if we don't pass in the 2nd tier, we don't pass the semester. Try getting someone to explain the "tiers" to you...if you understand it, let me know because I still don't get it. :banghead:All I know is I "passed" both of them on the first try and scored below 75% on each and still maintained the 2nd tier. To top it off, both of my scores were ranked better than the 90th percentile nationwide. Interesting...

At my school we also take the ATI exams. We take the test specific to that course at the end (i.e. peds ATI at the end of peds). But we were never given any breakdowns or study guides for them. We took them to see how well we knew the material and how well we did against the national average. In my opinion they kind of help, but no so much. I haven't had time to review the books that come with them, so I'm not sure wether or not the ATI books are of any help. But they are a good predictor of how well you will do if you were to take the NCLEX that day. Hope that helps
