ASU Post-Bacc 2014

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello everyone,

This is my first post! What a valuable resource this site has been for me! A little background on myself to begin:

I am 24, male, and have a degree from ASU in Business Marketing (2012). I have been working all year on prerequisites required for consideration in ASU's Post-Bacc BSN program, which (if you are unfamiliar) is a program that allows people with degrees to get their BSN in 12 months after completion of pre-reqs. It requires a minimum 3.50 select GPA and 58.7% score on the TEAS to even be considered.

I received A's in all prerequisites except for a sophomore-year psychology 101 class, which was a B. This makes my application GPA a 3.89 (instead of a 4.0 ). I just took the TEAS yesterday, and got a 91.3% (99th percentile national, 98th percentile in the ASU BSN program overall).

Do any accepted applicants have opinions on my scores? What do you think the chances of me getting into the program are? If you can speak to your experience with the application and admissions process, that would be great. I think I am doing well, and I believe after they look at my application and see that I have straight A's on all of my medical-related prerequisites, they won't discredit my GPA with the one psychology class.

Also, anyone else applying? How has the process been? Our apps are due soon!

Thanks in advance for your advice!

One of the other applicants told me she received word from the advising office that there are 68 applicants this year. That means we have better than 1 in 2 odds of getting in! I don't know about you, but that makes me pretty happy! :D

(As a followup to my previous post... undergraduate admission finally found my transcripts. Wahoo!)

Yes, that makes me very happy! One thing to consider are the stragglers that will come in this week from the mail, although they had to be postmarked by the 1st, and since it was a holiday, technically they would have had to be postmarked by Saturday at the latest. I'm very excited about the program and honestly, I can't wait to start. I am taking HCR 210, 230, 240 (patho) and NTR241 (nutrition) right now, and am ecstatic that next semester I will be taking nursing courses (hopefully) :)

Everyone keep the updates rolling! :)

That's great news! Hopefully, all our hard work will pay off. I didn't apply anywhere else so my fingers are crossed for ASU!

Glad your transcripts came through, finally!

I did not apply anywhere else either. I can't imagine applying to a lot of programs, making sure prereqs are fulfilled and will transfer for each program, making sure all the transcripts get received everywhere you applied, etc. Applying for just ASU's program has been plenty to stay on top of. I am pretty much looking at U of A's MEPN or ASU's BSN starting in the summer as backup plans. But really I have my heart set on the post-bacc program.

I'm in the same boat as you kateroy and jimmyphx74. I didn't apply anywhere else either and there is no plan B. I hope this works out for all of us!

What advising didn't say is that 40 of the applicants had 4.0 gpa's and 99% TEAS!! Just kidding!!

Glad ASU finally got your transcripts! Now it's a waiting game. I'm already looking at my email 100 times per day looking for the acknowledgement email and I already convinced myself they lost my application :nailbiting: (even though this is probably not the case.) If anyone hears anything, please post!

So I am assuming that none of us have received a confirmation email ... because I have not.

Nope! I still haven't seen anything yet... Hopefully something this week!

I have not rec'd anything as of yet either. My fingerprint clearance card just got "issued" so I am awaiting that in the mail, and then my petition will be satisfied. Hopefully we see something soon!

JUST RECEIVED!

I just got this email from Amanda Burnes, so check you inboxes, junk mail, etc. to make sure you get one too! Good luck everyone!

"Thank you for submitting your placement application packet for consideration to the spring 2014 Post-Baccalaureate Clinical Nursing Program (PBCNP). In the next few weeks, you will receive information from the Undergraduate Student Academic Services Office concerning the review of your placement packet. At that time we will ask you to verify placement information and contact us to make any corrections. If any of the materials required for a complete placement packet are missing, you will be receiving notice of the withdrawal of your request for placement.

If you have pending items from your approved Petition(s), please make sure you follow up by your given deadline(s).

It is imperative that you check your email inbox and junk/spam folder regularly for communications from our office.

If you have questions, please call the Undergraduate Student Academic Services Office at 602-496-0888."

Me too :)

Yes, me too! First sign of life that the process is underway! Get excited people! Haha.

Good luck to everyone and keep in touch. I'll be sure to post anything that I receive that isn't "personal" information :)

Just got my confirmation email ... Yay! It basically just says to expect further communications in the upcoming weeks regarding reviewing and confirming application info.
