Is anyone else applying for and /or waiting to see if they are accepted to ASU's Post-Bacc nursing program starting in Jan. of 2013? Anyone from the ASU post-bacc nursing class of 2012 is more than welcome to write and let me know how it is going for them as well! :)
My application is in and I wanted to see if anyone else is out there and want to discuss your GPA, TEAS V scores, anxieties, and the program in general.
Awesome, I'm just ready to get the test over with so I can submit my application. I've studied a bit but need to get a little faster to feel more confident. I'm taking patho (last class) at Gateway in the fall. I'm so excited and we still have so long to wait! It can't come soon enough!
I'll be applying for the program too, I've got everything ready except the test which I hope to take within the next two weeks. I've been studying and I was just wondering, does anyone know if certain information is given on the test or do we have to memorize it, stuff like the unit conversions between the metric and English system? I'm using the TEAS Study Manual Version V that I got directly from ATI, does any one know if this stays pretty true to the actual test? I've taken the practice tests and they seem very straight forward, I'm use to having to choose from tricky answer choices, I just don't want to get to confident and have the test be completely different. What I did to prepare was to buy the McGraw-Hill book of 5 TEAS Practice Tests. I found this helpful in terms of getting used to the time limits for each section of the test. I also took one practice test at ATI's website. The ATI practice test questions were more similar to the real thing than the McGraw-Hill practice test questions. How did those practice tests do in preparing you for the TEAS? I have the same materials and am hoping that along with recently finishing many of the prereqs, I'll be prepared and do well. Was that your experience? I have my TEAS exam on Aug 19 at noon and then just have to finish up my essays to submit this application. I can't wait to get it off my desk!
Both McGraw-Hill and ATI's practice tests helped a lot. ATI's was more similar to the real thing ... the questions were presented and worded in a more similar way in my opinion. I found some of the McGraw-Hill questions to be poorly worded or vague, which was frustrating. And ATI's practice tests as well as the questions on the actual TEAS were more carefully written to avoid this. Take all the practice tests to get used to the time factor (Math seems to be the one where time was the biggest concern for me). Read the rationale for the correct answers for any questions that you miss. Keep track of the types of questions you tend to miss and brush up on these areas. Pay special attention to the types of questions that are always asked, like recognizing writing types (persuasive, narrative, expository, etc) and types of sentences (imperative, interrogative, declarative, etc). You are bound to get questions like that, and with a bit of practice they are easy questions you don't have to spend much time on. For science, review basic concepts and formulas for areas of weakness for you, but don't try to overdo it. Be realistic about how much you can review and learn without overwhelming yourself with the time you have available. Get a lot of rest and try your best not to be too stressed out going into it. You are giving it your best and will do great. Good luck! :)
Is anyone taking the test on the 30th? I have everything ready to go but would like as much time as I can get to fully review for the TEAS. Does anyone know if I can submit my application without having taken the test, since the test score will be sent to them electronically anyway?
