Associates degree vs bachelors? Really needed?

Hello to everyone,

Question, I am going to school for my associates degree in nursing.

This might sound like a stupid question however, if I pass the RN-

Exam am I that much better of with a BSN than an ASN?

I am thinking of working in a nursing home however not 100 percent sure yet.

Will I be given more job opportunities and responsibilities?

What about pay?

Are there jobs that I would be prevented from getting without having my bachelors degree?

I recently asked a college recruiter this and she really did not give me a straight answer.

What if I got my associates degree then went back to school for another degree like radiology Tech? I might be in a better boat then I would be able to perform two jobs.

Or I could get a Bachelor in Health Care management and got on the management side of things one day when I get experience.

I am currently in school for my ADN. When I finish, I do plan to go for my BSN. There are some types of nursing jobs that require you to have a BSN, like school nurse, public health, and some management positions to name a few. I am only going to do it so that I have other options available to me if I decide that I don't want to do floor nursing anymore.

There are many things you can do with a nursing degree. Take some time to look into all the different specialty areas just to get an idea. You don't have to decide anything right now, wait and see what interests you.
