When you graduate, you will be a graduate nurse and have an Associate in Science Degree. Then after successfully passing NCLEX, you will be RN.

Oh, and :balloons: Hello and Welcome!! :balloons:

One year after starting the two year associate's degree program for nursing you are elgible to obtain your LPN. At the end of the two year associate's degree program you will be elgible to obtain your RN. Hope this helps!

Not all states permit you to sit for the LPN boards after the one year. That is up to the individual state, it is not national.

thanks so much, such a little question has taken me hours on the net to get an answer. i really appreciate it, now how long does the NCLEX take? What does it involve? is this something taken at school?

NCLEX=National Council Licensure Examination

You will "sit" (take the exam) after you graduate. Then, after you pass this exam, you can receive a license as a Registered Nurse.

No problem with the questions..........keep them coming. We are here to help you.

Oops..I'm not familiar with other states rules. :) I know in Illinois it is possible to get a LPN license after one year.

I just took the NCLEX-PN exam and you can have anywhere 85 to 205 questions. I was allowed to take 5 hours, too. The NCLEX-RN is similar but has a different amount of questions offered and the time limit is different, I'm not sure the exact since I haven't taken this one yet but will hopefully in another year. :)

Once you obtain your license, you will be elgible for entry level RN positions. Of course, every where is different and some places you may be able to get more specialized. Guess it depends how desperate the facilities are to hire. I know when I get my RN degree, I plan on starting on the Acute Care floor at a hospital I already work at to get my experience.

Nursing school is tough but if you have the will and dedication, you can and will succeed! Good luck!

Pointers? Keep on asking questions. :) I can tell you are very excited about nursing school. Many here, students and old pros alike, will answer your questions and try to help you along.
