I am in my second semester at fscj, i am completing my pre-req's for the nursing program. i was wondering if anyone could help me with a couple questions i have. i was wondering how do i calculate my points needed to get into the program, and also which classes you calculate. is there a special formula? also was wondering which semester is best to apply for. i was also wondering does the cut off vary by each semester? any helpful info would greatly be appreciated! thank you very much and goof luck to all!!

Anyone interested in the Nursing program needs to attend an introductory meeting. During the meeting all questions you have will be answered. You will get documents to take with you that have the formula on them. In the meantime, you can look at the top right corner and search "FCCJ points" and I am sure you will have plenty of examples!
Yes, the points vary by term....insomuchas....they take the top scores until they have all the seats filled. It is getting more competitive with each progressive term. I don't believe starting in one term or another makes a difference. The only difference would be for the folks that want EVE/WE program which does not have a term 1 group in Spring.

Hi there. Im a FSCJ student myself, and applying for the program in august. The point calculation is easy. An A is worth 4 points, a B is worth 3, C is 2, D is 1 and F is 0. Just multiply the grade you got by the number of credits the class is worth and thats your points for that class. Example: Microbiology is worth 4 credits, if you get a C, 2x4=8. 8 points for Microbiology. The classes you calculate are: A&P I and II, Microbiology, Algebra, any humanities, Human growth and development, English I, sociology ans psychology. Add all your points from your classes together and add that to your NAT score. (you need to take the NAT before you apply and there is a formula you use to calculate you points for that). Each semester enters a different number of students. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but Spring takes like 144, Fall takes like 160ish and summer takes like 94. Good luck and hope to see you at the nursing program!
Oh okay, I get it now, thank you! Does anyone know when is the best time to take the nat? Someone told me 4 months before you intend to apply that way if your score is not what you like, you can take it 3 months later so you will have the best score before you apply, is this true?
I don't think there is really a best time to take it. You at least need to have taken AP I, a math class and maybe chemistry. The test is fairly basic. You can take it twice in a year but it has to be at least 3 months apart

What classes are you taking now? Do you know when you will apply? I was hoping to apply for the Jan. 2011 term, but the advisor told me I won't make it in time. I was told that you have to have all of your classes finished before you apply, but I read on here that some people aren't done and have still put in their apps. I'm not sure how that works!

Classes you HAVE to have done are your math, A&P's, and Chemistry. You must also either have completed Microbiology or enrolled in it when you apply.
You guys should go to the place where the advisors are and pick up the RN packets with all the info. Dont even have to meet with one. Just go to the front desk and ask for the RN program application stuff
Thanks for the reply. Another question....does anyone know if I can take chm1032 at the same time as A&P1????
Thanks:)

I think so. What class is chm1032?
I took intro chem and A&P at the same semester so I dont see why not.
The intro chemistry class, however, was I think a prereq for Microbiology so you couldn't take it in the same semester as micro.
Yes you can take Chem1032 and AP at the same time. I'm taking it with AP2 now. It's pretty hard though.
