If I get my ASN thru Excelsior and BSN elsewhere will I have the same restrictions with California??. How long will I have to work outside of Cali in order to endorse there with Excelsior education. I forgot the amount of hours. Also what are my chances in California as an Excelsior grad? I understand its a case by case type of thing

CA bases their evaluation on your entry to practice education. Getting a BSN bridge after EC or working for decades still will not make you eligible to become licensed in CA by exam or endorsement. Unless you graduated EC before 2006, you will not be eligible for a CA RN license unless CABRN changes their regulations. There haven't been any exceptions posted in half a decade or longer.
That is very helpful!! And makes so much sense. So its the entry education thats important...what about a ASN from an accepted program and a BSN from Excelsior???. Would I be paid less?? As if I only have a ASN degree??. So they dont public ally post this "case by case" basis for Excelsior graduates? I dont know if I should take the chance attempting to be endorsed or not choosing Excelsior at all
I jus reread and you said its impossible but there are many nurses here who are Excelsior grads and work in California after 2006...they mentioned a case by case basis type of thing. Working a certain amount of hours as a RN and then endorsing :?
The simple answer is if you wish to work in CA as an RN do not go to Excelsior for LPN to RN as you are not eligible for a CA RN license by exam or endorsement. You need to attend a ASN or BSN program that meets the requirements of CABRN. Even if you graduated a traditional ASN program and are licensed in another state, if the program doesn't meet CABRN requirements you won't be accepted for endorsement. Excelsior has gone to court to get LPN to ASN graduates after 2006 qualified in CA and lost to CABRN
I did not say impossible but there has not been a single verifiable report of an EC LPN to ASN grad who endorsed to CA who didn't at least start the program before the CA regulations regarding concurrency of theory and practice were enforced. The last report I saw the nurse had started the program but enrolled after the deadline and with extensive assistance was able to secure enforcement.
CABRN has been rejecting applicants for RN license by endorsement or examination who do not meet their concurrency of theory and practice. Their response has been to return to school to repeat concurrent theory & clinical for med surg, psych, pediatrics, and/or OB at a CABRN approved school.
Thank you I think since I really want to live e in California that I should really consider not doing Excelsior. Even if there is a little hope I dont think it would be worth it! Thanks! !!
Crap I already paid for my micro exam I hope I can transfer that somewhere!!
It depends on the school most require micro & A&P to be with a lab.

Do not pin your hopes on licensure believing that they'll consider you on a case-by-case basis. As already stated by Beachy, Excelsior tried taking the BRN to court and was smacked down. And the BRN shows no signs of relenting at this time. An Excelsior ADN is incompatible with practicing as a RN in California.
