Asking the board for a second time

Published

I have a question about fingerprints and the State Board of Nursing. I applied to several schools, and one that I applied to did fingerprints and background checks before we got accepted, we did the fingerprints the same day as we applied. Anyway, they didn't accept me and I got accepted somewhere else. Well now this school wants my fingerprints too. The state board has already said that I had permission to participate in clinicals. So now that this other school wants prints all over again, can't I just ask the board to send my papers to this other school, now that I know I'm going? I don't see why I need to pay another $70 in money orders to get my fingerprints and background checks done again, I just did them in April. Any good feedback would be appreciated.

You will have to ask your school if they will accept the fingerprints/background check done by the other school.

Call your school and let them know that you have already been approved. I had the same problem and my school advised me to call LSBN. LSBN told me that I was approved to enroll in clinicals and that my background check/finger prints could be applied to the other program. I did have to submit another $20 for the application fee and another application (back and front green sheet on second page of packet). I did not have to pay the entire $70 and submit the background and finger print portion. I also put a copy of the approval letter with my application.

I had mine done at the Sheriff's Office in Covington...they didn't charge me. But I would call to verify that there isn't a restiction on what area you live in.

Good Luck!!

I'm not exactly sure about the background check, but I know the sheriff's department in LaPlace doesn't charge for fingerprints. But like kmc22 said, you would need to check if that's OK since I'm guessing you an out-of-towner (town of LaPlace, that is)

Good luck!
