What does the assistant do? There are some things a MA or a CNA can't legally do. An example of that would be telephone triage and performing assessments. When I was researching this topic as it applies to California, I learned that often a MA is included as a part of the doctor's malpractice insurance but isn't clear on CNAs legal status.
The only reason I bring this up, and maybe it doesn't apply to your situation, but sometimes (ok, often) a doctor will have assistants doing things they should not be doing in order to save money. A memorable example of that would be the doctor who had an MA cauterize polyps in the colon.
GOD that is a dream job for a CNA, so you have to do is find a LTC facility is will allow u to only work 8hrs per year so your certification will stay current. You need this evidence when you renew your license....GOD I WISH I COULD HAVE THAT JOB!!!
Noway, I would want a job like that! Today, I almost cried because I was barried in paperwork. Three doctors want to be out next week at the same time, so they messed up my scheduled.
We called for a registry doctor to cover the absentee, so I had to showed her around our bigger-than- Disneyland facilily.
I then had to had to send the number of people in hospital units to the CMO because he's been sick from all the stress we get.
After, I picked up the mail and distributed.
I then got all the medication approval forms signed, and walked them to pharmacy.
Next, I got the Wendays Doctor Meeting agenda printed for every doctor and placed them in file folders along with the timesheet.
I'll continue telling you what my day looks like tomorrow. I need to get lunch ready, uniform and take a shower. Noway, I would want to keep this job. I can't wait to go back to the floor. I'm pressuring them to hire somebody already, but they want me to learn the job incare the new person leaves.

I started my position as a cna assisting three doctors during med. exams, and taking vital signs. Well, the Chief Medical officer, which is the top doctor, lost his assistant and pulled me in to fill the position. The problem is that I'm not gaining experience in direct patient care, but I'm almost running the entire medical department as a CNA.
Now, my question: will the effect my ability to keep my certificate?
