ARRGGGHHHH!!!!!! California wants MORE money

Published

I posted on here a few weeks ago about all the expense and hassle of applying for different state licenses. I sent California a $131 dollar check back in march. Plus, I spent $60 on verifications and $30 on fingerprints. I pick up my mail today and find a letter from the california board. I hurriedly open it, expecting to find my license. What I find instead is a letter advising me that I've met all the requirements for a license, and they will issue one as soon as I send them ANOTHER $100 and wait two weeks for the license to be sent from ILLINOIS. I called and complained that maybe they should have included (or at least mentioned) the fee in the application packet I filled out in march. The board rep stated that they are "two separate fees, the first was for the background check and processing, the $100 due now is for the actual license". I've called a California senator for help ant her office said to write a letter requesting intervention and she'll "look into it".

that's interesting...i can't remember how much i paid for my license...

Sure you can add all of those fees up, but heck, it's only money. Your a Nurse, you are a willing, giving, caring, did I mention giving? Give, give, give, give. I was born and raised in good ole Cal-lee-for-ny-ay. This is a place to leave, not come to. This is the biggest bleeding heart, 9th circuit court of appeals, give away the country place that there is, plus we are a trillion dollars in debt! Gasoline in Fullerton, Ca. is $4.00/gal. A cheapo gas station is $2.40/gal for diesel! The median house cost is $361,000.00!!!! Thats a median. Are you Median? Ha! Welcome, welcome to Jurassic Park...

OUTRAGEOUS!!! $361,000!!! How can an RN afford a house in Cali? That's is CRAZY!!! Can an RN actually become a home owner? When I say homeowner I mean: 3 bedrooms, 2baths, 2car garage in decent neighborhood. Man.... that just totally blows my mind!!!

While the money is a pain. My main objection is them not including this in the initial application packet. If you tell me it takes 8-12 weeks and 131 dollars (to the california board of vocational nursing) to get my license, then after spending that and waiting that, I should get my license. I should not get a letter stating that I need to spend another 100 dollars and wait another two weeks to get my license.

Just an aside to fiestynurse: Does the RN board act this absurdly as well? I thought it was just something us LP/VNs had to deal with since CA still has separate boards.

Yes Warhawk, it's all true. There are survival strategies out here that do not require several families living in one house. If you, or anyone else for that matter want to ask me questions, go right ahead Email:[email protected]

Maui's median home price is $500,000; Oahu's $439,000. What you guys complaining about? I just went to store for salad fixings. Got the lettuce but can't afford the tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, etc.. LOL; just another day in paradise!

It was the LVN Board that I wrote to. This nurse from Kansas had about $400 to her name after the expense of moving here and finding an apartment. She was only making $13/hr in Kansas and had saved up as much as she could. The LVN licensing fees are outrageous! Something really needs to be done. I think contacting a state senator was an excellent idea.

This state can be really screwed up, like any other ... But I still love it.

I've lived in Washington D.C., New York, Virginia, North Carolina, Lousiana and Texas.

Nothing compares to California.
