Arrest records and background checks for nurses?

Nurses Criminal

Published

Hello,

5 years ago I was detained in California for questioning and released. I was fingerprinted but never went infront of a Judge and I was not charged with anything.

Even though I was only detained, because I was fingerprinted the detainement shows up as an arrest with NO conviction on my background check.

Do I have to mention this when it is time to apply for a nursing license?

When I got my Florida nursing license they did a background check on me before giving me the license. I think it would be best to be honest and tell them yes. If you omit it and they discover it, it could cause you some big problems.

Depends on if you are asked if you were ever CONVICTED of a crime or ARRESTED. Two different things.. but a quick call to you board of nursing will put you at ease!
