Hello everyone,

can someone that is on the Army nurse Reserves Corps give me some kind of idea of how long is the process. Im completing the application, getting the letters of recommendation, all the paperwork needed, etc....

Any hints about the process. I will really appreciate it.. thanks..

I decided to make a radical change in my life and my nursing career... I am with the Lord on this one as well.. He brought me this far.

thank you guys..

Thank you guys for all your responses..

So today I mailed my package to my recruiter... I am in God's hand...

Also, my recruiter told me that he will contact me next week or so for physical.......

I have a quick question about the reserves,

for the STRAP program, lets say I would like to further my career and be specialized in critical care... can that be possible?.. I know they have the program for the ones that one to earn their BSN. In my case, I want to specialized... MSN, that sort of thing...

thanks in advance...

Does someone know what the age limit is for active duty vs reserves in the army nurse corps? I have been thinking about joining recently. I originally wanted to join but I was a diploma grad and did not think I would qualify. 15+ years later, I am just now completing my BSN (6 mos till graduation). I have been a nurse for almost 16 years and had previous active duty military experience as an enlisted in the Navy for 4 years as a hospital corpsman. I am now almost 45 years old. I would like to have my BSN loans repaid and possibly have the army pay for a masters degree. I know I have to contact a recruiter but I want to see if anyone knows about it here first. Thanks!

Age cut off is 42 but for the reserves you can request an age waiver. I'm

47 and just applying now. I'm in good health and reasonable shape so I'm hopeful.

I have my BSN, 20 years of experience and working on my MSN in nursing education.

We'll see.

Thanks jlcole. After BSN is done, I want to tackle msn. of all the branches of service, when it comes to nursing, I am very impressed with army nursing. maybe you could mention my question to your recruiter? :-) God bless.

I am currently processing as an ICU nurse in the army nurse corps reserves. I am applying to CRNA school this year, for admission in 2012. My recruiter told me to go ahead and process as an ICU nurse, and then apply for STRAP for CRNA school after I get my acceptance letter. My concern is, what if the Army doesn't need more CRNAs for the next fiscal year, or what if it gets full before I receive my acceptance letter? I don't want to go in as an ICU nurse and it interfere with me going to CRNA school. Any thoughts?

Thank you for all the comments everybody..

This week my recruiter called me and I was selected by the Army Boards. Wow. Amazing. Thank you Lord. You made it possible so fast. I started my application on March 2011 and May 2011 I was selected. My experience in the process was great.

I am ready to take my life to a new level with this new experience in the Reserves...

I've read that, but had forgotten. Thanks. I'm That Guy. Things always happen to me that don't happen to others. I was the kid that always got caught growing up. I'd get called back up, lol. All joking aside, it's just that psychological thing. Just the commitment of going back to school was hard to get past. It merits further investigation though and is certainly something to think about. Thanks for the reply.

ETA: I just did a search and saw neither army reserve nor national guard nurse units in Arkansas. I guess that makes it a moot point. Oh, well...

Doesn't matter if there is a Reserve unit close to you. You can still join. I don't have a unit close to me, so I'm assigned to a unit in a different state. There are ways for you to still get your points. You need to delve a little further and talk to a health care recruiter.
