Army Nurse Corps FY2013

Specialties Government

Published

Hey everybody, I'm starting a thread here for those applying to the Army Nurse Corps in FY2013. I figure this might be a good place to get to know other future nurse corps officers and a place for the veterans of the ANC to pass on some advice.

Share your story and hopefully we will meet down in San Antonio this Winter/spring of 2013

Ill start with my story,

I am a 28 y/o critical care nurse with 2 years experience in a level 2 trauma center in Virignia. I passed MEPS at Ft. Eustis and have submitted security packet, letters of reference and letter of intent.

I am applying to the October review board for Active Duty Army Nurse Corps for the 66H8A(critical care) and 66T(trauma) programs( I am not sure if they are still running this one, but you don't get what you don't ask for).

I am happily married with a baby on the way, my wife is 100% behind a move the Army and I feel blessed to have her love and support.

The road to the Army has been a long one with a degree in Biology, stint as a drug rep and return for an accelerated BSN.

I love being a nurse and love working in critical care. I hope to serve my country in uniform treating service members & their families at home and in forward deployed units.

I want to be an critical care nurse and officer in the U.S. Army and I hope that I will get to meet all of you in uniform at BOLC, at MEDDAC, CSH or FST in CONUS or OCONUS.

Here's to all us achieving our dreams of becoming Army Nurses!

HOOOOOOAH!

Hi all,

First off, thanks for all the great info/posts(very helpful during this period of uncertainty)

I just got the news from my recruiter this am that all my paperwork/scroll has come back and will be signing/commissioning sometime next week.

I hope everyone who has been waiting hears some good news soon… it’s been a long and stressful hurry up and wait period for all of us on this forum. Look forward to meeting a lot of you in March.

Irishliz, Thanks

Sorry, to clarify I was not on the OML. I was one of the selected for USAGPAN, but my paperwork was delayed due to an issue with constructive credit. I do hope you and the others on the OML hear very soon!

I have no idea what the problem is or why it is taking so long, and neither does my recruiter! I wish I could figure out what issue is causing the delay.

It could be so many number of things. Were there any type of waivers you were waiting on? Did you have some constructive credit issues? Did the board actually select more than the quota and now they are waiting on additional funding for BOLC(not likely)? From what I have seen so far, everyone that was selected that I kept up with has gotten scrolled. Maybe there is something wrong at the recruiters office. Makes me wonder why the recruiter wouldnt put in some further inquiries. If I was a recruiter, and I have already heard all the others had gotten scrolled and mine was waiting with no explanation I would be on the phone till I found out. Well, I hope you do find out soon though.

Sad! It's not that I am in any hurry, it's just that I am banking on something that just isn't happening! Ugh! I mailed the recruiters office...we'll see. I needed no waivers and asked for 1Lt as I have been a critical care RN for more than 5 years.

Paperwork came through! Have no idea what took so long. How long after everyone signed before they heard when they were going to BOLC?

wife has yet to find anything out yet.

In order to go to USAGPAN you are active duty unless you are going through the VA.
