Hi. I was wondering if I wanted to join the Army Nurse Corp do I have to be an American Citizen. I am currently living in the U.S. for 16 years and hold a green card.

Yes, citizenship is required for active duty. However, reservists need permanent residency. You will need a BSN for either. More information is here: http://www.goarmy.com/amedd/army-health-care-corps/nurse.html

With the upcoming drawdown it might be diffucult without US citizenship for the reserves. But if you do not ask, the answer will always be no. You need to speak with a healthcare recruiter. Good luck

I'm in a similar situation. I'm a British Citizen and need to get US Citizenship prior to applying. The good thing is that the USCIS are pretty fast these days. I'm told it's taking less then one year now, but then I think it depends on the Service Center.
