Army/Navy corp

I just wanted to know if anyone has any input about it. Im a foreign BSN grad currently getting my MSN here in US with CCNE accreditation, i know its not easy to join now, but i have nsg exp since 2009 from medsurg-icu- currently working as a Burn ICU here in CA. just wondering if anyone would share their inout regarding applying into Army/Navy nurse corp and if you guys had the same issue as mine.

No they don't, you have to be a citizen to be a commissioned officer. I was an Army recruiter.....Even for reserve nurses you need to be a citizen and have permanent residency in the US, meaning you can't live abroad.

Also there really isn't a need for Army med surg or ICU nurses (We are full up even with experience). You can apply but I assure you that it won't change for while.

Dranger-- Are there any open spots right now for nursing? I have six years prior Navy service- does that help with the selection process?

Last I heard it was still very selective especially for active duty. Med surg is usually never in demand and oddly enough neither is ICU or ED. Plenty of M/S LTs to fill those ICU/ED role via the Army course. I have heard OR and OB are in a higher demand. They are looking at 2+ years experience for any applicant.

Last FY they took less than 5-10 nurses off the streets for active duty at least for the 66H (including ICU, ED etc) to my understanding.

The chances even with 6 years exp and prior service are still very low, but go ahead and apply if you really want it.
