Army Commisioning 2012

Published

Hey There, I just got a call from my army recruiter to talk about my status. She told me that the Army is going to be doing their boards in October, usually the first of the month. Is this true? Does anyone know different?

She also told me that any experience would make me "not a new nurse". She said working even volunteering at my local hospital as a CNA would qualify for them. Has anyone heard this?

Is the Air Force still planning/anticipating their boards in the winter?

After 9-10months of paperwork I just learned I was accepted into a USAR unit. I have yet to officially swear in. I'm supposed to this weeked. I have 2yrs nursing experience, and supposedly $45-50k of loan repayment in my contract. From what I've read this may be too good to be true. I also did not use a health care recruiter, but a newer guy that was guided through the process with someone who was familiar. Anything I should watch out for? Very excited about this opportunity! I'm wondering when my Officer training will be.

Before you swear in review your contract, it should have your loan repayment & paygrade in it. If it does not do not swear in until it is corrected because once you swear in and sign the final paperwork that is your contract. The recruiter might try to blow smoke up your butt about it getting fixed later but it will not. Your pay grade should be O1/2LT or O2/1LT if you are a BSN and it should read E1/PVT, E2/PFC etc. if you are a ADN or LPN and then you would be enlisted. If you are a BSN make sure your paygrade is O1/2LT etc. otherwise you will be enlisted no matter what you say since you signed the contract.
