Army or Airforce as ADN?

Hello Nurses!

I am a RN with three years of hospital experience with the last year being in the ICU. I currently have an ADN, however should finish my BSN in just under a year. It seems that the armed services require a BSN for the nurses corps, but is it impossible to get that process started as an ADN? Another question I have is if I enlisted, would I be able to transition to the nurses corps after I finish my BSN? Thanks.

If you are graduating with your BSN within the year contact a health care recruiter now. Do not enlist because there is no guarantee that you will be able to switch over to a officer. Also it would be very hard to finish your BSN if you enlist in the next year.

I can't speak to the army. But air force won't accept you as an ADN.

No service will accept an ADN but you can contact a health care recruiter within 1 year of obtaining your BSN. They will inform you of their requirements. They are slow to get back to you and the paperwork can take a year or longer.

You can start applying once you're in the last 6 months of your BSN program. You just can't start until you have the BSN completed.

No, it's not an easy process to just switch over. You could literally be enlisted for years waiting to do so.
