If you search, you'll find lots of people sharing salary info. But it varies greatly by state/region so what someone is making in FL or CA won't be of much use if you don't live in those states.

If I'm not mistaken, most of the smaller cities and rural areas in Arkansas will start a new RN off at about $18 per hour. Arkansas is not one of the highest-paying states for nursing.
Specializes in ER, ICU, Medsurg.

Pay in East Tennessee for a new RN is also 18 an hour. We are right next to KY and there pay is also around 18 unless you go to the one hospital that is union in which case it would be a little more but you pay city tax and union dues there so it evens out.

In defense of union dues; I worked a union job for ten years and my dues were only $16 per month. That fee included health insurance for my entire family!!! Also many other benefits.

So in my experience, union dues are WAY Lower than what you'll pay anywhere else for health insurance!

If you use the search facility at the top of the page using key word/s you should find many of the threads discussing pay. Also check out the general discussion forum as I am sure there are threads in there discussing this

I'm in no way putting down union dues. My husband is retired from the UAW and I am all for it. I'm just making the point that in this area between having to pay the city taxes and the union dues at that particular hospital you are making the same $18 as in the other hospitals. That was my point, not putting down unions.

for the person up there that said that starting RNs make 18/hour, are you sure? Lpns at the nursing home I work at make 18 and hour, I live in conway, arkansas.

Sad, but true.....$18/Hr. is the average starting wage for an RN in Arkansas. I've heard other LPN's in the areas I've been say they make around $14/Hr.

Specializes in CVICU/SICU/CCU/HH/ADMIN.

You can call the hospital's HR department and ask what the starting pay is for a new grad RN.

I am in Arkansas Jonesboro area, LPN's are making around 16.00 on first shift in a nursing home, and up to eighteen on third shift with shift diff. My cousin is an RN with over 12 years experiend, and the hospital in harrison just stared her out at 18.00. Doesn't make any sense does it?
