are there any nurses from arkansas out there? will be locating to northwest arkansas around the first week in june-- i would line to know how the job opportunities and how the housing is any help would be appreciated:D

Specializes in ICU, nutrition.

I lived in Fayetteville from 1992-1997. When I lived there, it seemed like the cost of living was awfully high for the wages paid. I hope it's different now. However, I loved living there and would consider going back someday.

I didn't work there as a RN, but a friend of mine was going to nursing school up there and was telling me a couple of years ago that the starting new grad salaries were around $12-13/hr. Pitiful, I know.

I saw an ad on Delphiforums for RNs at a heart hospital in a decent-sized, nice Arkansas town, could be Fayetteville or Fort Smith, but now I can't find it!

Good luck to you.

I live in NW Arkansas and work at a smaller hospital. The Springdale/Fayetteville/Rogers/Bentonville area has several hospitals to choose from, lots of opportunity. I know personally my wages have improved over the last few years but I'm not sure how they compare nationally, and I'm sure if I was in the Fayetteville area it would be higher.

I can't tell you much about housing either, though my sister lived in that area a few yrs ago and it seemed reasonable. I've worked in Berryville and Harrison, if you had any questions about those areas I could better answer you. Good luck to you and welcome to nw arkansas!

I live in Fort Smith... And Im still a Student... But I think the Springdale/Rogers/Fayettville area is a better spot to look... A new grad told me the other day that she is going to be working at Washington Region making I think 18.00/hr, more on weekends.

Good Luck :)

Northwest AR is absolutely beautiful. I believe the pay rates for RN's have increased quite a bit over the last few years due to the

population growth in that area of the state.

Arkansas Heart Hospital is located in Little Rock. I believe CD Willians is their chief surgeon right now. They specialize in CABG's. A friend of mine is an RT over there and loves it.

Good luck with the move.

I'm pea green with envy!! NW Arkansas is one of the most

beautiful places on this planet! I lived there in the early 90's.

The pay was shoddy but it must be better now. Walmart has

brought in LOTS of new businesses and people. Was just in

NW Arkansas a few weeks ago, stayed in Rogers. There were lots of RN help wanted ads running. I could not BELIEVE how much Rogers area has changed. We lived in Avoca during our time in Arkansas.
