I completed nursing school in December 2010. After applying to sit for the NCLEX I was surprised when I was immediately denied approval due to 2 misdemeanors in my past. One being a public intoxication when I was 18 in 2006, the other a minor in possession of alcohol when I was 20 in 2008. I had done A LOT of growing up by nursing school graduation and very upset that my behavior in my past was still throwing me consequences. I did everything the board asked of me and was able to obtain my license by April, 2011. Since that time I have continued to have a clean record. At this time I want to further my career and education and apply for my MSN to work toward becoming an FNP. I would get my criminal record sealed, but the state board requests sealed records also. I'm wondering if anyone has had a problem getting approved to sit for the FNP registration from the State Board of Arkansas or any other state? I would really hate to spend a TON of money and time on furthering my education to just be denied. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
