NAU ABSN 2017

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hi everyone. Since applications are due in a week, I thought I would create a thread for Northern Arizona University's 2017 ABSN application cycle. Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hi! I'm taking the Kaplan test on Thursday. Have you taken it yet?

Hi! Yes. I took it yesterday. I was pretty stressed about it, since there isn't really a great way to study for it. I got a 91.

Awesome!! I've been studying for weeks. How was the science portion? From what I've heard from other people was there's a lot on the circulatory system and respiratory. Was that the same for you?

There were probably about 4 or 5 questions. The science portion was tricky. I got A's in both A&P courses and studied for the science portion, but there were a few questions that I don't think I could have gotten, no matter how much I studied. Some of them are just kind of ambiguous and weird. The other sections of the test are pretty basic, so it kind of makes up for the science portion.

Gotcha. Do you have any idea how many people are applying for this semester?

No idea. I think they usually get something like 100 apps for 30 spots.

Hi guys, I also applied to the 2017 program. I guess it is just the waiting game now, although I was definitely not satisfied with my application. On the Kaplan I got an 81 overall, and 89 in science. Math was my best subject, but that writing section dropped my overall big time. I found that section a little subjective, I actually love writing too and standardly get A's on essays... Also still have 2 Bs on the pre reqs too. Anyways good luck!

Hello! The Kaplan exam was definitely a weird one. I also took the HESI A2 and found it to be much easier to prepare for and very straight forward and not subjective.

I've read that it's supposed to take 4-6 weeks for a decision from NAU. Hopefully it will come more quickly! I'm definitely stressing out over it.

Hi everyone! So I won't be applying to the ABSN program until 2018 but does anyone on here know about how much the program costs per semester? Or even better, the average cost for the whole program? I tried looking on their website but wasn't able to find anything. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Hello everybody! I will also be applying for their ABSN. I'm a little nervous considering there's only 30 spots. In regard to the tuition, it depends if you're coming from out of state. They have tuition for "undergraduate" and undergraduate-excess hour (I'm guessing we would use the "excess hour" considering we are pursuing a second degree). I'm attaching a link that can give you more details: Tuition-Fees - Student and Departmental Account Services - Northern Arizona University

In regards to the cost of the program. I have a friend in the program right now (2016 ABSN) and she paid a total of $21,000 for tuition. This doesn't include books, uniforms, travel expenses, etc.
